Brilliant!

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I just love this series! This instalment offers more detail on Byone's youth, which felt a bit like an oxymoron because this novel is written with much more finesse and refinement than the previous novels in the series.

It also feels very much like Ricardo M. Fleshman has become the voice of Detective Byone. He feels like such an intrinsic part of Byone that it doesn't feel right reading the physical books.

"What's next for the Voodoo Detective?"

Any additional comments?

Detective Byone's partner and friend has been kidnapped by Baptiste and dragged into the wildness of Trinidad. Byone is after them and this time it is very, very personal. Travelling right back to his teenage days where it all started, this is a tale even darker than most and one of the best in the series. Whilst a stand alone, like all of the other Byone earlier stories, it is improved by knowledge of the others.
Nicholas Patrella is the narrator again, tackling the unfamiliar phrases wit aplomb As noted before, his text reading style is somewhat strange, fragmented, but his conversation is fluent and very distinctive. And, for this listener, he really has become the voice of these Byone novels.

Another intriguing and curious book. I'm looking forward to the next.
