Summary

Deep down in our core we know that if God is truly sovereign, then we have to face the truth that things happened to us that hurt us and He didn't stop it.

John Enslow, The Sovereign Touch

In The Sovereign Touch, John Enslow unflinchingly tackles the hardest question any Christian will ever be asked: What role does God play in our pain and suffering? This question is asked in many different ways, but the root issue is always the same. Is God a truly sovereign God?

The Sovereign Touch is a powerful blend of Scripture and personal testimony that encourages the listener to grapple honestly with a hard truth that can no more easily be ignored than the God Who authored it. With courage and compassion, Enslow addresses personal pain, the suffering of those we love, a broken world full of agony, and the universe beyond that. And through it all, our mysterious Father God is revealed as intimately involved with the life and soul of the creation He loves so dear.

Discover for yourself what The Sovereign Touch makes so clear: God is either sovereign over all, or He isn't sovereign at all!

Difficult but necessary

God's sovereignty is difficult to grapple with especially when you are suffering or have seen loved ones suffer and have to come to terms with the fact that God is choosing to let it happen. Personally, the problem hasn't been believing His sovereignty but wondering about his goodness. Why would a good God allow so much wickedness? What could he possibly have to gain? This book will help you face questions like this with truth.

Facing Life’s Hard Questions with Faith

Have you ever wondered why God lets us go through tough times? Or why bad things happen to good people? Then you need to check out "The Sovereign Touch" by John Enslow.

He tackles these difficult questions head-on from a deeply scriptural standpoint. The main idea of this book is powerful: God is either in control of everything, or He’s not in control at all. This really got me thinking.

Here are the parts that really stood out to me:

1. He talks about the real pain we go through and how God is still in control, even when it doesn't feel like it.

2. He backs everything up with Scripture and clearly shows that God is sovereign, even when go through tough times.

3. He shares his own life experiences and stories from other believers.—stories that touched my heart and will stay with me for a long time.

4. He discusses how our struggles can shape our character and make us more like Christ, which is a powerful perspective.

One of the biggest takeaways is that we can choose to be thankful even in tough times—which will turn bad situations into times of healing and restoration. For example, he shared this powerful prayer:

“Thank You, Father, that You are God. Thank You that You are Sovereign. Thank You that You care more about my eternal destiny than my momentary opposition and complaints. Thank You that I can trust You with my life, even in my pain.”

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to answer all those tough questions that all Christians face in life. It will help you keep your heart pure and focused on God—even during times of testing and hardship. This is definitely a strong recommend.
