About this listen

An Angeleno strapped for cash. A vampire who doesn't suck blood. A primeval monster monopolizing the city with deception....

Sign-twirling and rideshare-driving while waiting for his next casting call take a backseat to track down the supernatural for a pretty penny.

When John Hunter finds out he can get paid $5,000 for trapping a rogue chimera, it's game on.

Now, he'll have a crash course on the goings-on of the secret underworld and more than a few bruises to prove his mettle.

But not all is as straightforward as it may seem. There are those closest to Jonny who are more than they're letting on. And the humans in his life turn out to be the worst kind of monsters. Jonny may be able to save himself, if he wants to save the city from an unspeakable, ancient evil lurking in the shadows, he'll have to catch up fast.

For fans of Larry Correia's Monster Hunters International, Martha Carr's Go Dwarf Yourself, and Hunter Blain's Preternatural Chronicles comes your next romp in the graveyard. Because monster hunting has never been this much fun.

Great Supernatural Monster Hunter book

So I started listening to this book with a little trepidation as this normally isn’t my genre of choice and I was glad I decided to give it a listen , it took me a little time to get into it but when I did I found a highly enjoyable story, which builds a world as it progresses and introduces us to another side to life. Jonathan the author has done a fine job with this book and the narrator Steven adds to the characters without going over the top. Well done all on a fantastic story and I look forward to listening to more.

Funny and entertaining!!

This book drew me in straight away and I was there alongside Johnny, Evan and Shannon. Vampires and other things exist as Johnny finds out when he sees his room mate Evan feeding on a girl. However Evan is a 'good vampire'. Chaos ensues as Johnny makes friends with Shannon, Mrs Grundy and Odin the very large dog with yellow eyes. No spoilers here but it's just a fabulous book. Plenty of action and storyline. I even cried a little bit near the end.
The narrator is easy to listen to and I enjoyed his take on the characters. I was sad when the book had finished and there wasn't another one out yet.

Good fun start to a UF series

Happy to have found this series. A balance of humour and action. Looking forward to further character development and interested to see where the story arc takes us. As always Steven Barnett brings the characters to life and I enjoy listening to his performances.

Funny first in series

Jonny Hunter is a yet to be discovered actor. He shares a flat with Evan, he has a narcissistic girlfriend and no money. When he discovers his flat mates secret, it opens his eyes to the hidden world around him. With the help and hindrance of the other people in his building Shannon, Mrs. Grundy and a couple of hell hounds life just go interesting and very dangerous.
I love this story, the narration is excellent .
I will be reading more by this author.

Great

I admit I want sure about this book by the title but as an avid listener I decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised about how good it actually was.
