Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Truth of Melody Browne, by Lisa Jewell.

Melody Browne can remember nothing before her ninth birthday. Now in her early 30s, Melody lives in the middle of London with her 17-year-old son. She hasn’t seen her parents since she left home at 15, but Melody doesn't mind. She’s better off on her own.

And then fragments of her past start to come back. At first her memories mean nothing to her, but slowly, day by day, she begins to piece together the real story of her childhood.

But with every mystery she solves, another one materialises; with every question she answers, another appears. And Melody begins to wonder if she'll ever know the truth about her past....

Good story a bit marred

I liked the premise of the story and it was read well but I found it very odd that since the author herself has children that some of the story about the 6-7 year old character were very unbelievable.

Beautiful

I have read several books from Lisa Jewell, as her previous novels, this does not disappoint. There is heartache but woven between the pages are beautiful moments. Antonia Beamish does an excellent narrative!

A great read

Not my usual go to but thought I'd give it a try and glad I did, really great book touching in parts the unconditional dotting love for a parent from their child that can't be tainted. It's like the book is writen through the eyes of a child.

Had me in tears

I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks, big fan of Lisa , they are always a great listen and I’m often moved, but this one got me, so beautifully written that I really felt for the main character

Sad and glorious

I loved this book. It was well written, emotive and poignant. I deeply cared about the characters and gripped by their epic journey. Sad and glorious in equal measures. And the narration was perfect for this story. Going to miss Melody and her friends.
