So much fun!

The Unhappy Medium 2 follows on from the first Unhappy Medium. Both are so imaginative and very creative. The clever use of the language and fantastic characters made me laugh out loud. It is supremely narrated by Marston York who gives amazing voices to everyone. I loved both and hope there’s a third soon.

Historical Japery

Really enjoyed this book as I did his previous one, it gives history a new look in a fun, thoughtful way. And I enjoy looking up online the people/events referred to in the story.

A Tom Fool not to check this bookout.

This is the second book in the series and it is as good as the first.
if you like the paranormal then you will love this book there are little nuggets of the paranormal dropped in and you can see T J Brown as a great knowledge of the paranormal as some of these are nuggets only a true paranormal researcher would know.
Then story follows along at a fair pace with alot of twists and turns.
a great listen and worth having in your Audible library.

Another entertaining and imaginative installment for the purgatorians. I'll definitely be purchasing Wretched Things when it's released in audiobook format

Great narrator but troublesome plot

I really enjoyed the first book and was excited to see where the story was going to go in the second book, and even though this story has some highlights there are too many plot holes down which the narrative falls. I’m not going to point them all out here, just listen and see if you can figure out the main weakness in the storyline. The narrator is great however, and the story does contain some laugh out loud moments, so although there are some problems with the story itself it’s still worth a listen.

Where to start

I don’t know where to begin to explain how terrible this book is. I made it all the way through the first novel, and the end of that was satisfying enough. Spoilers may follow. At the end of the last book, Newton teamed up with his daughter and girlfriend, and they went on helping those in purgatory. Now in this book, Newton’s character is awful. He constantly yells at his girlfriend and daughter, telling them they can’t participate in any supernatural mysteries. I have no idea why his girlfriend doesn’t leave him or why his daughter even bothers to try and contact him by phone, as he constantly ignores her when she has valuable information about the afterlife and ghosts. Nevermind the fact that she’s his daughter and he treats her like rubbish. Newton is a despicable human being as a character. I can’t believe I listened to this audiobook more than halfway through before completely giving up. The author has written this book straight off wiki. He selects some random people from the internet and information-dumps their details into this book to create a whole bunch of pointless characters. So, the author hasn’t come up with any characters of his own. With Newton being the worst character, clearly based off Brian Cox. I don’t think there are any characters I rooted for in this book. I wish I hadn’t spent a credit on it. Oh, and the racism and misogyny disguised as fictional character flaws is rampant herein. Disgusting. Newton needs to get over himself big time. He acts like the whole scientific community cares about his disgrace. It’s actually only his ego that wants to think anyone’s bothered. Egocentric, triggering tripe.
