About this listen

Filled with holiday charm and perfect for fans of Leslie Meier, Jacqueline Frost's charming series debut Twelve Slays of Christmas is set at a Christmas tree farm when the jolliest time of the year turns deadly.

When Holly White's fiancé cancels their Christmas Eve wedding with less than two weeks to go, Holly heads home with a broken heart. Lucky for her, home in historic Mistletoe, Maine is magical during Christmastime - exactly what the doctor prescribed. Except her plan to drown her troubles in peppermints and snickerdoodles is upended when local grouch and president of the Mistletoe Historical Society, Margaret Fenwick, is bludgeoned and left in the sleigh display at Reindeer Games, Holly's family tree farm.

When the murder weapon is revealed as one of the wooden stakes used to identify trees on the farm, Sheriff Evan Grey turns to Holly's father, Bud, and the Reindeer Games staff. And it doesn't help that Bud and the reindeer keeper were each seen arguing with Margaret just before her death. But Holly knows her father and is determined to exonerate him.

The jingle bells are ringing, the clock is ticking, and if Holly doesn't watch out, she'll end up on Santa's naughty list.

Loved it

Great book, I didn’t guess the murderer and it was beautifully read too.
Merry Christmas

Cosy listening

A cosy Christmas story. Much like book no.1 however I seem to be hooked on these and maybe the cosy over the top Christmas theme is why. Don't listen when you're hungry though as so many yummy sweet treat descriptions are mouthwatering.

Festive fun

Undemanding festive murder mystery. Worth a listen. Good narrator. I was expecting more deaths though.

Starting to get bored with these busybodies...

How many more sanctimonious females are there in cosy crime? Aurora Teagarden, Friendly Ghost Inn and now this one. The main character is only marginally less objectionable than the murder victim. Oh and she hooks up with the cop, just like the other two 🙄

Easy listen

The narration was entertaining and the story was good, easy listening if a bit sugary.

Seasonal

Good story. Murder and a love story in one. Writer kept you guessing right to the end. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

A light, but good, mystery

The narrator really does bring the spirit of the book to life. The story is very twee and sentimental, and Allyson sounds like she's smiling almost the whole time. Which really fits the story and theme. The mystery itself is light, but still good. Multiple suspects are presented, before we finally find out whodunnit. A great story and performance to relax to, with enough "will they, won't they" on the love side to keep everyone interested.
