Summary

The crime-solving duo Geneva Pomolo and Iris Reeves are invited to a comeback party hosted by country-music legend Dick Morrow. In the past 20 years, Dick’s style of folksy country had lost favor on the radio, having been crowded out by the louder, more aggressive brands. Dick released an acclaimed bluegrass album that sold approximately three copies, but now he’s ready to reclaim the stage that made him a star.

Those dreams are put to pasture, however, when Dick’s body is found on the side of the road, having apparently been pushed over an embankment in the dead of night. As Wrangler’s Hill prepares to mourn its beloved country musician, Geneva and Iris find themselves investigating a murder with no shortage of suspects. There’s Tina, the long-suffering wife who watched him shamelessly flirt with fans at concerts and rodeos for over thirty years…. Mitchell Bryan, an old friend from school whose own dreams were eclipsed when Dick’s took flight…the infamous Rick Morrow, the twin brother who made a living by impersonating his more successful sibling—and then disappeared without a trace.…

As the investigation deepens, Geneva realizes that some crimes have deep roots—and that it’s going to take all her considerable cunning to sift through the tangled legacies of family and fame to find a killer who already may be planning to kill again.

A lovely cover.

An enjoyable cozy mystery with a lovely cover and a clever plot. I liked the voice of Gregory Kellis, the narrator, it has a natural smile.
