Summary

The next riveting mystery featuring PI Jane Lawless.

Everyone thinks Luther and Dominic are happily married, that is, until Luther is convicted of his husband's murder.

Four years after Luther is sent to prison, his brother contacts Ray Lawless, the defense attorney on the case, with evidence of a wrongful conviction. As he faces reopening the case, Ray pulls in his daughter, Jane, to help attain justice for a grieving widower and find the real killer.

Just as Ray and Jane get started on the case, Jane's brother, Peter, arrives on the scene and may know more about the night of the murder than he's letting on. It's up to Jane to discover the truth, but it may come at the cost of her brother's love.

MWA Grandmaster Ellen Hart is back with another exciting installment of her Jane Lawless series.

A great mystery!

Well… it’s all going on in this book!
One of Rays past cases has had new evidence turn up, throwing the conviction of his client into doubt. This sets into motion a domino effect that will have consequences for all Jane’s nearest and dearest - Jane’s brother Peter is back in the Twin cities, and boy, what a mess!
Jane’s personal life is in turmoil (no spoilers!) but as usual we can always rely on Cordelia for a much needed dash of fabulous-ness!
On a side note - where is Nolan! Jane’s PI business partner has been absent for a while, and we want to know how he is!
A twisty, turny story with a full cast of dislikable suspects!
A highly recommend book in a great series.

26th Jane Lawless mystery

Gideon Wise and Rashad May seemed happily married until Gideon was murdered in their apartment and Rashad went to prison for his husband's death. Now, four years later, Rashad's brother claims to have new evidence and wants Rashad's former attorney, Ray Lawless, to investigate and reopen the case. Ray's daughter, restaurateur and part-time private investigator Jane Lawless, agrees to look into the cold case

I have been a BIG fan of the Jane Lawless series for many years, but this one didn't hit the spot. The writing and performance of the audio book is fine, but the story and much loved characters are not working in this book with Jane's brother being exceptionally annoying and daft in this and Jane's love life once again heading for disaster - albeit for another reason than usual.

I will give the next one a try, but the last few have maybe been a few too many for me for this series - unfortunately
