Summary

Detective Alan Auhl does things his own way - and gets results. He works cold cases now. Like the death of John Elphick - his daughters are still convinced he was murdered, the coroner not so sure. Or the skeleton that’s just been found under a concrete slab. Or the doctor who killed two wives and a girlfriend and left no evidence at all....

Couldn’t stop listening

I enjoy all Disher’s books and this didn’t disappoint! Shame it’s a standalone as I’d like more with same character

Police procedural with a difference

Good story about Australian cold case copper, but with a couple of interesting twists.
I enjoyed both the story and the narrator. Not my first Garry Disher book and it won’t be the last.

Cracking story, ok narration

Garry Disher knows how to write a compelling crime story populated by warm-blooded characters you can really believe in. This is no exception. I raced through it! The narration was ok - a bit lacklustre. But not everyone can be Steve Shanahan or Lockie Chapman.

Great new detective character

As always, Disher fleshes interesting characters with motivations and challenges outside the main plot lines. This is the strength of the book.
There were 3 investigation plot lines running. I thought the ending on a couple was too convenient.
The main character was very interesting but by the end I lacked empathy with him and can see why this might not translate in to further stories involving him.
Unlike some others I found the narration fine.

Good story

Good story plenty of different aspects to it. Just slightly spoilt by the performance delivery.

Brilliant

Loved this book, the main character is so very different from the usual detective, and he makes the book all the more interesting.
Disappointed it's a one off, would really love to hear more. One to listen to again.

Fascinating-

Essentially listening for anyone who has to deal with or has been accused of parental alienation or simply not believed about the truth when people in positions of authority silence the truth - a great listen

Very Satisfying Ending

Enjoyable tale in interesting backdrop. Could spend more time in the company of the main character. Really well read by well chosen narrator. Triciax
