Summary

Temný epos, v němž na pozadí skutečných historických událostí ožívá svět slovanských hrdinů, čarodějů, ale i tajemných rituálů, bohů a strašlivých běsů. Černý Rogan je legendární lukostřelec z osobní družiny vogastohradského knížete Vlastibora. Téměř deset let bojoval v žoldu Karla Velikého v kruté válce, jež rozvrátila říši Avarů, divokých nájezdníků z podunajských rovin, ale protože po konečném vítězství požadoval od svých žoldáků přechod od pohanství ke křesťanství, Rogan odmítl a tím zanikl nejen jeho nárok na odměnu, ale i možnost dále v žoldu zůstat. Na vlastní pěst se proto vydává do temných lesů v povodí řeky Hron. Žene ho nenávist a chuť se pomstít. Byť to tak doopravdy vypadá, jeho skutečným osudem ale není jen pomsta. V cestě za poznáním temných sil v něm a dědictví po předcích se musí vydat až na hranici svých možností. Nebude však putovat sám...
