UNLEASH 2023’S BIGGEST DEBUT

*A BBC 2 BETWEEN THE COVERS BOOK CLUB PICK

*Cosmopolitan's Best Books for 2023

KATE, 2019

Kate flees London – abandoning everything – for Cumbria and Weyward Cottage, inherited from her great-aunt. There, a secret lurks in the bones of the house, hidden ever since the witch-hunts of the 17th century.

VIOLET, 1942

Violet is more interested in collecting insects and climbing trees than in becoming a proper young lady. Until a chain of shocking events changes her life forever.

ALTHA, 1619

Altha is on trial for witchcraft, accused of killing a local man. Known for her uncanny connection with nature and animals, she is a threat that must be eliminated.

But Weyward women belong to the wild. And they cannot be tamed…

Weaving together the stories of three women across five centuries, Weyward is an enthralling novel of female resilience and the transformative power of the natural world.

I didn’t want it to end

This was such a gripping book, full of heart and drama with a touch of suspense. So thought-provoking with the thread of witchcraft running all the way through.

I was hooked from the very first chapter. The audio book narration was fantastic. I haven’t been so engrossed and invested in a book for a long while.

Weyward Women

Loved this story of a trio of ‘Weyward’ women rising up against patriarchal misogynist oppression. Their bond through the generations is an unbreakable golden thread stitched into the most beautiful tale. Really hope to read more from Emilia Hart in the future *****

A story about 3 generations of women who discovered their strength through diversity and learnt how to overcome their hardship

A slow burner, stick with it as the story develops and becomes addictive, it jumped around with the narrative of three characters from different generations which was frustrating at times but persevere as there is a bond linking the characters with a happy ending showing the power of female friendship and how nature healing and witchcraft were once so misunderstood. It was beautifully written and I really enjoyed the audiobook , highly recommend.
