About this listen
Five-time Christy Award winner Lynn Austin is acclaimed as “one of the genre’s best historical fiction novelists” (Library Journal). Set in Brooklyn, New York, during World War I, While We’re Far Apart is a brilliant blend of captivating characters, heart-tugging emotions, and vivid spiritual truths. While a motherless girl longs for her daddy and a young lady hopes for a second chance at love, this poignant tale explores the uncertainty that stalks the homefront as the “War to End All Wars” rages in Europe.

Spellbinding from start to finish
This was impossible to ‘put down’ thank you to the author who brought to life the characters, and retold part of history from their perspective.

Learned so much
The narration of this brilliantly written story was faultless the characters were brought to life and the true horror of war and what it meant for those who fought and those who survived

Brillant historical novel about world war 2
The story of a Jewish and a Christian family living in the USA during world war 2. Many issues are explored from a Jewish and Christian perspective in a warm, convincing and imaginative way, emphasizing the common ground of the Old Testament and the character of God. A very good read which makes the book hard to put down. Historical detail is well researched and fascinating.

perfect
I loved this book. so much emotion and historical accuracy. makes one realise the huge number of Jewish people who died on the holocaust. I love jane Austin because there is always a happy ending, even after traumatic events. I would definitely recommend.

Moving and gripping
A story with a number of threads that keeps you wondering til the end. I knew some of the historical information, but some facts were new to me. Hearing the perspective of the American and Hungarian Jews was very moving and brought me close to tears. A timely reminder of the importance of family and the damage prejudice can do in a society where family values are disintegrating
