Summary

It is the year 5170 in the land Agora, where humans, dwarves, and elves have existed in peace for centuries. Now, however, the human King Addakon has invaded and waged war on neighboring Isladon. The once peaceful Kingdoms of Agora are on the brink of continental war. The Dark Elf Eadon, and his army of Dragon-Elf crossbreeds, the Draggard, threaten to conquer all kingdoms. Enter young Whill, a 19-year-old ranger with battle savvy and untapped abilities. Having spent years roaming Agora and training with his mentor Abram, Whill has become a bright intellectual and a master of combat. Along the way, Whill encounters an equally inspired group of companions that are matched in skill and mission. What he seeks most, however, is the identity of his birth parents. Instead, he finds a tumultuous terrain and a prophecy placing him in the center of the struggle.

Hidden gem

This was a very gripping listen, I found it very hard to put down, so much so I purchased the following 2 books in the series after only 3 hours of listening.Graham Halstead did a very good job with the narration. If you have ever listened to any of Christopher Paolini's books then you will enjoy this series. I'm off to start book 2 now.

So much re hashed rubbish

What would have made Whill of Agora: Whill of Agora, Book 1 better?

spoiler ish alert . some original ideas or twist. some thing new. this book is a poor mans eragon without dragon riders. its just poor. theres a boy he is the chosen one. sigh. there is an elf he falls in love. there is magic he some how masters quicker than any one. sigh. what the actual heck is this rubbish. if your going to use well done line you need to throw something in there to spice up the mix.

Has Whill of Agora: Whill of Agora, Book 1 put you off other books in this genre?

no, i have over 200 books in my audible library and most are fiction fantasy sci fic

What didn’t you like about Graham Halstead’s performance?

it wasnt bad just bland. this wasnt his best work

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

not really, it has taken other good works and made the idea poor. it felt like a poor mans classic band of adventurers.

Any additional comments?

why is it every time the narrator mentions women in this book he just says shes beautiful beyond discription. im buying a book for you to describe stuff. thats like a cook saying it tastes more than you can taste so i wont cook it. bring some dimension to your people. every one was flat 2d. the elf is pretty. so what. whats her personality like. throw me a bone here. people dont bother with this tripe
