Summary

An unabridged Agatha Christie mystery, featuring the young adventurers Lady ‘Frankie’ Derwent and Bobby Jones.

While playing an erratic round of golf, Bobby Jones slices his ball over the edge of a cliff. His ball is lost, but on the rocks below he finds the crumpled body of a dying man. With his final breath the man opens his eyes and says, ‘Why didn’t they ask Evans?’

Haunted by these words, Bobby and his vivacious companion, Frankie, set out to solve a mystery that will bring them into mortal danger…

Fabulous

Emilia Fox's performance was outstanding.
I have always been a fan, but this was the first time I had listened to an audible performance, it was truly magical 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I enjoyed this.

This is one of my favourite Agatha Christie stories and it was well read by Emilia Fox. Some of the voices were a bit odd, but overall well worth a listen.

A gentle whodunnit

I always enjoy an Agatha Christie, I'm never quite certain who the murderer is until the end, and everything is light hearted and not too gruesome.

Excellent narration

Gripping, fun, exceptionally well read! Not the most famous story by Christie, yet it kept me guessing until the very end. 5 stars

Why didn't they ask Evans?

A sunny day playing golf a scream a3/4 dead body unconscious he wakes to say why didn't they ask Evans? then dies
Who is Evans and who is the victim was he pushed or fallen?
These are the questions Bobby wants answers to but little did he know what he was getting into. A very intriguing storyline with lots of twists and misdirection really good audio book

Classic Christie

Usual great Agatha Christie story - ms fox’s narration was not to my taste - her Welsh accent left much room for improvement.

Sadly, Emilia Fox's terrible narration.

I liked the story which was both action thriller and whodunnit. The fact that it isn't a Poirot/Marple novel doesn't largely detract from the novel but Emilia Fox's awful narration, and her utterly garbled Welsh/Irish/God alone knows what accents makes it very difficult to reach the end of any of the books she narrates - she's just so wrong.

1920s early story

I enjoy this early Agatha Christie story for it's twists and turns but I really prefer the later stories, as they don't tend to be quite so full of 'jolly young things'. It is however still worth a listen.
