Summary

Rachel Goldman writes mysteries in which Duffy Madison, consultant to the county prosecutor's office, helps find missing persons. Rachel is busy working on her next book when a man calls out of the blue asking for help in a missing person case. The caller's name? Duffy Madison.

Is this real, or has she lost her mind? She doesn't have much time to find out, because a serial killer is on the loose, kidnapping and murdering mystery authors. And Rachel may just be the next target.

Full of uncanny intrigue and witty humor, E. J. Copperman's imaginative series debut, Written Off, is sure to be a new fan favorite for listeners of Donna Andrews.

More humour than expected

Excellent narration, the character has a sense of humour which she captures perfectly and a couple of times I found myself gently sniggering.
Good story, good characters, can’t wait for the next one

A fun romp

This is a funny light hearted read.

The narrator, Amanda, has read many books and I enjoy her voices.

This is not the type of book that you dissection of plot and discuss character development.

It is a lite bit of whimsy that makes you smile as you go through your chores.
I enjoyed it.

Unexpected story

I didn’t expect to like these books but I did, the reading was easy to listen to, we all know a voice can ruin a book for us, and the plot was quirky. I don’t want to add any spoilers but it’s an unusual twist on a who done it. Like I said I really enjoyed it and went and got the second book straight after.
The book mystery wasn’t all that crafted but the overall mystery has you guessing throughout. I would definitely be interested in another in the series. Think Veronica Mars or Nancy drew and that is the level of the mystery. Simple but fun.

I did enjoy it…but

Even I, an american living here for 50 years found the accent difficult . However my ears gradually became attuned and I am looking forward to another book.

Copperman and Ronconi win again

I love the combination of this author and this narrator. Having listened to the Haunted Guest House series it took me awhile to adjust to this book. But soon the usual wit and the sarcasm emerged. The denouement was protracted, and the murderer was a cop out, but the plot doesn't really matter in Copperman's writing; the skill is his style of communication.

Amusing tale we'll performed.

I had never heard of Amanda Ronconi. But this was a good performance.

The tale is quite light hearted and easy to listen to. Nothing spectacular but I would not put it down. I listened while doing housework.
