Critic reviews

"To be motivated, you need something to be motivated about; obvious, maybe, but so true; this direct simplicity is the book’s greatest asset." (Kindred Spirit)

lots of fluff

good book, but lots of fluff and I don't think fluff has substance, problem with fluff examples or excersizes is that the author doesn't under what it is they are talking about, in the real world, you brain has to find examples to back up claims otherwise it will not believe what you are asking of it, you have to manoeuvre yourself into seeing it before you believe it and that takes effort over weeks

It’s ok but quite general

The book is not mind blowing, it offers some interesting exercises but with rather hollow promises of getting your life in order in case you follow it for some unspecified time frame. I finished the book just to tick it off but I wouldn’t recommend it to a scholar

very concise and punchy book and audio. The author shares some useful and insightful methods. But application of these tools is on your hands.

Yes You Can

Great book, basically a book on visualisation but one which also cover self belief and offers practical tips in which to apply to your daily routine.

Terrific book on self improvement.

Really enjoyed this book. In many ways it wasn't what I was expecting, but I'm really happy that was the case. Don't get me wrong, it is full to the brim of useful techniques that can be utilised in many life situations, but what impressed me the most was that much of this book was about self-improvement in general, and the kinds of things we can do to improve ourselves in the now, not just for the future. The narrator was a good choice as well, providing a soft voice that also really made you take each point on board without it coming across as arrogant as some books of this nature can easily become. A really good read, thoroughly recommend.

An ok book if you can get past the authors ableist views

As far as empowering self help books go this is ok. Some easy to follow activities to start you using affirmations to achieve what you want and learn to appreciate it when you achieve it. However, it was massively let down for me by the offensively small minded views the author has about ‘most’ autistic people and their inability to form speech or communicate beyond echoing back what they have just heard and I found my enjoyment of the second half of the book tainted by this.
