Summary

I have a gift. I see people as ghosts before they die.

Of course, it helps that I'm the one killing them.

The night after her father's funeral, Claire meets Lucas in a bar. Lucas doesn't know it, but it's not a chance meeting. One thoughtless mistyped email has put him in the crosshairs of an extremely put-out serial killer. But before they make eye contact, before Claire lets him buy her a drink, even before she takes him home and carves him up into little pieces, something about that night is very wrong. Because someone is watching Claire. Someone who is about to discover her murderous little hobby.

The thing is, it's not sensible to tangle with a part-time serial killer, even one who is distracted by attending a weekly bereavement support group and trying to get her art career off the ground. Let the games begin...

Dexter meets Killing Eve in this superb thriller, perfect for fans of How To Kill Your Family and My Sister the Serial Killer.

Great dark story

I pictured every character and found myself wanting it to go well for the unlikely protagonist. Development of the story was surprising and kept me wanting to know what next… Very satisfying read. Can’t wait for next book from JW!

Black humour,

Enjoyable, although like guilty secret - the original story, and really great narration brought the characters to life!

Very entertaining

The narrator was great, doing voices of other characters well so they were instantly recognisable when they reappeared.
The story was compelling, uncomfortable in parts, but I could not stop listening . The protagonist and the insight into her mind will leave you waiting eagerly for the next book by this author.

Quirky great first novel

I want to say I really enjoyed this audiobook but I felt the narration let it down. It had some cracking funny moments but they weren’t executed well. Every now and then, a line would be delivered perfectly and I’d laugh out loud as the narrator hit a stride but overall it just didn’t hit the mark.

Storyline was good and worth a listen.

Brilliant debut. Both crazy and hilarious!

Loved this read. A fabulous mix of horrific and laugh-out loud moments that make this book thoroughly brilliant. Peppered with both hilarious and troubled characters that keep you invested and a storyline that has you rooting for the protagonist throughout, despite her madness! Loved this book to the end and the read brilliantly by Imogen Church.

Fantastic!!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s got a bit of everything in. Touches on some good subjects but keeps you on your toes and supporting Claire with her mission. Would highly recommend, especially if you like to laugh out loud, which I did a lot of!

Entertaining story made even better by superb narration

The story was very entertaining if completely bonkers but I enjoyed it a lot. There’s not many audiobooks I finish within a few days so that’s to its credit. The narration was the best I’ve come across so far on Audible and I had to remind myself sometimes it was the same person doing all the different voices.

Deliciously dark and funny story

I really enjoyed all the twists in this story. It was beautifully read and there was just enough humour to keep it spicy.
