Im zweiten Teil der True-Crime-Reihe (der die Vorgeschichte zu Teil 1 ist), ist der Pathologe gerade an einem mysteriösen Mordfall dran, als er nach Transnistrien gerufen wird. Er soll zwei Leichen identifizieren, die durch die Lagerung in einem Kalkfass fast vollständig zersetzt sind. David Nathan liest den politisch hochbrisanten Fall.
