  • December 7th 1973. 22-year old Lester Eubanks was convicted of murdering 14-year-old Mary Ellen Deener in Mansfield, Ohio. He confessed and was sentenced to the death penalty, but later commuted to life in prison. Lester was allowed to go Christmas shopping unsupervised as part of a prison good behavior program. He never returned. Lester remains one of the U.S. Marshals’ most wanted fugitives.
