  • 386: Raising Securely Attached Kids // Eli Harwood
    Sep 2 2024
We all know how important it is to raise securely attached kids, but how to do it can be the tricky part! It's true what they say about parenting: The days are long but the years are short. I feel like the years are flying by with my two kids, who are both now in double digits, and I often find myself wondering how I can parent them in a way that will keep our bonds strong through their teen years and into adulthood - and in a way that they will thrive in their adult relationships after they leave my care. This is why I've been drawn to the work of therapist and author Eli Harwood, who has dedicated her career to studying research on attachment theory and making it applicable to everyday humans trying to build secure relationships, whether that's the clients in her private practice, the hundreds of thousands who follow her on social media, or the people across the world who read her books. Eli's newest book, Raising Securely Attached Kids, will be released on September 3, 2024, and it was a thrill to have her back on the podcast to discuss this important topic. • 385: A Final Recap // Why Do These Nine Principles Even Matter? [Back-to-School Series]
    Aug 30 2024
Here we are! It's the final day of our two-week-long series on how to become more peaceful, confident, and happy in motherhood. I have loved this series, and it's also been a ton of work--more work than I had anticipated! (Though I don't know why I didn't anticipate that airing a podcast episode every weekday for two weeks 🫨 would be a huge challenge. Sometimes things sound easy before you do them, and that was definitely the case with this series!) But, despite the hard work, I'm so glad I persevered to give you a little deep dive into each one of my nine principles of Self-Assured Motherhood. My goal for every woman who listens to my podcast or participates in my SAM program is this: I want you to feel more fully yourself as a result of the work that we do together - more deeply accepting of who you are and more able to nurture the best that's already within you, instead of wishing you could be different or "better." Friends, if you want to do this work with me, I hope you will join my Self-Assured Motherhood program, which opens for enrollment on Monday, September 9th. *** Announcements: Self-Assessment for Moms: Click here to download my FREE self-assessment to go along with each of the 9 principles we'll be discussing through the mini-series. **Everyone who downloads this assessment will receive a special discount for SAM! AND, one lucky mama will get SAM for FREE!** Self-Assured Motherhood Program: Doors to SAM will be opening soon! Join the waitlist! • 384: Principle #9 // Support Their Struggles [Back-to-School Series]
    Aug 29 2024
My kids are headed back to school soon, and they will be doing all sorts of assessments to see how they're doing in math and reading and writing. And this got me thinking: I need to do a series of mini-podcast episodes during this back-to-school season for moms to assess how they are doing, not with balancing equations or diagramming sentences (because I have a feeling most of us would fail those assessments 🥴), but to assess something way more important: our own levels of emotional wellbeing. Just like last week, this week, Monday-Friday, I will be publishing a mini-episode to introduce you to each of the principles I teach in my Self-Assured Motherhood course, a framework I created for overwhelmed moms. Each principle is an important part of emotional well-being and can help you in your personal assessment of how you're doing. Today's principle is: Support Their Struggles. As you go along with this mini-series, you can use this self-assessment I've created to visually assess how you're doing in each of the principles we discuss. I hope you find this mini-series helpful as you take time to consider your own emotional well-being. I'm rooting for you! *** Announcements: Self-Assessment for Moms: Click here to download my FREE self-assessment to go along with each of the 9 principles we'll be discussing through the mini-series. **Everyone who downloads this assessment will receive a special discount for SAM!
