  • EPISODE 135: PAUL MERRYCK
    Oct 26 2024

In this episode, I talk to the wonderful comedian, PAUL MERRYCK.

The Essex based character comedian is shameless, ineffective and unethical on stage delivering a hysterical collection of short stories and jokes about the mishaps of his life. Merryck is a regular on the London and South-East comedy circuit and comperes a monthly night at ACanteen in Chelmsford. He is also a regular at Fringe Festivals, including performing at the Edinburgh Fringe every year since 2016, and Hastings Comedy Festival since 2018.

I have seen Merryck live on stage for Angel Comedy at The Bill Murray pub in Islington, London in 2023, and a guest on The Late Show at The Hastings Comedy Festival in 2024.

I have spent many a happy comedy night from 1992 to 1997, watching legendary resident compere Thomas at the Downstairs at The Kings Head Comedy Club in Crouch End, London. The club was co-founded in 1981 by Peter Grahame and Thomas, who was forced to retire in 2002, after twenty years, due to health problems. During his glorious time at the club, he would perform his off-the-wall comedy routines (including infamous animal impressions) to delighted audiences.

  • EPISODE 128: PHIL NICHOL
    Sep 7 2024

In this episode, I talk to the amazing comedian, PHIL NICHOL

Comedian, actor, writer, musician, podcaster, and director, Nichol is a man of many talents. As a comic, he has reduced me to tears of laughter on many occasions. A regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and UK comedy circuit, Nichol’s style of comedy is outrageous, unhinged, unexpected, and hysterically funny.

Among many performances over the years, at the Edinburgh Fringe, I have watched Nichol as a guest for Nicholas Parsons Happy Hour in 2005, appear in the plays Talk Radio and True West (both 2006), Killer Joe (2007), and The School for Scandal (2009) and Hughie in 2019. He was a guest for Mervyn Stutter’s 20th Anniversary Pick of the Fringe in 2012 and in London, Downstairs at The Kings Head 40th Anniversary Show in 2023.
