  • This is a podcast for women, about women, featuring women...It's about what happens when we turn 50 and our culture quietly deems us irrelevant. But we are not our mothers. There's a new generation of 50+ women who are redefining what it means to thrive in the second half of our lives. Whether you are still raising children, working, caring for aging parents, or just looking for the next chapter, my guests will inspire you. • Cara Amore: From chef, to private investigator, to stand-up comic, she has made transformation her life’s work
    Sep 9 2024

Cara Amore has a resume that reads like magical realism—is it possible to be so many things in one lifetime? She was a chef, worked in corporate America, spent 17 years as a private investigator, and now, wows audiences with her tough and snarky New York brand of female comedy. Cara is a person who is not afraid of transformation. In fact, she’s done it so many times many would say she’s an expert in change. She overcame the battle of her life-addiction-and is now living her dream on stage. In this interview, we delve into why at 56 anyone would want to pursue their passion in arguably one of the hardest fields in which to achieve success-stand-up comedy. Cara will make you laugh, and she will make you think. And that, in my opinion, is the perfect combination for a happy life.

But even her tough exterior couldn’t protect her from a health crisis. At age 50, Kathy was diagnosed with Microscopic Polyangiitis, an ANCA Associated form of Vasculitis that is incurable. But like everything else she has tackled in her life, Kathy looked at this as just another challenge that she would be able to manage.
