  • Summary

  • AfrAId is a recent Blumhouse production directed by Christ Weitz that explores some of the potential dangers of AI (Artificial Intelligence) by following a fictional family that recently underwent a trial run with an AI in their home.

As you might expect, things start out pretty great but eventually go very wrong as the AI begins to make rogue and questionable decisions that have serious consequences for every member of the family.

It is a decent film in that it does what the writer likely intended, that is, provokes thoughts around the costs vs benefits of AI. Unfortunately, outside of that it has some serious story issues and just doesn't make sense in some spots. That is why Ryan and Mark give the film a 6.5 and 5, respectively.
