  • Baseball Is Dead Episode 6: Angel Hernandez Is Awful (Feat. Jonny Gomes)
    Apr 25 2022
We are excited to announce that Jonny Gomes will be joining Baseball Is Dead as a regular contributor to the show! In Episode 6 Jonny, Jared, Dallas, and Joey break down the biggest MLB storylines from over the weekend. We talk about Yankees fans throwing trash at the Guardians outfielders after their walk-off win, Miguel Cabrera getting his 3,000th hit, Reds fans being asked to remove bags from their heads in the stands, offense and batting averages being at an all-time low, and a whole lot more. We also talk about what it would be like if hitters had access to statistics while in the batters' box in the same capacity that pitchers and fielders on defense do. Angel Hernandez had an awful Sunday Night Baseball game in which he was booed and yelled at by Kyle Schwarber which leads to discussion by Jonny on when you should/shouldn't argue balls and strikes. Jared also sees a video of Gerrit Cole touching the back of his pants between pitches which leads to discussion on whether pitchers are still getting away with using sticky substances. Enjoy! • Baseball Is Dead Episode 5: Joey Calls Out The Freemans
    Apr 21 2022
Freddie Freeman faces the Braves for the first time since putting on a Dodgers uniform and Joey has some strong feelings towards him and his family. Joey also shares an interesting tidbit about the Braves apparently not touching Freeman's locker in the clubhouse since he's left. The guys then get into a variety of other topics including the poor attendance at Oakland A's games, the Tommy Pham/Luke Voit fight, the Nestor Cortes NFT, Tim Anderson flipping off a fan, and of course Joe West's new podcast. Dallas has to leave early so Jared and Joey hold down the fort for the second half of the episode where they get deep into the psyche of Major League umpires. Enjoy! • Baseball Is Dead Episode 4: Fire The Boys Up
    Apr 18 2022
Episode 4 of Baseball Is Dead starts off hot as Jared comes in fired up about his deep hatred for immaculate innings. The topic then shifts to why Max Scherzer doesn't get mentioned in the same category as Clayton Kershaw and whether he deserves more recognition. The guys then have a lengthy discussion around the bizarre move in the Angels/Rangers game over the weekend where Joe Madden decided to walk Corey Seager with the bases loaded and break down Joe's reasoning for the move. Fernando Tatís Jr. was also a topic of discussion as a video went viral of him playing soccer on the field and tripping over the ball in what looked like a potentially dangerous fall. Jared brings up Roki Sasaki being pulled after eight perfect innings and 14K's after his previous start where he pitched a perfect game with 19K's. Jared also revisits the essay he wrote about Dallas's hometown Stockton, CA. We end the show with discussion about where we are at with juiced/deadened baseballs, the current face of MLB, Astros players still getting boo'd, and the A's having the most runs scored in the majors. • Baseball Is Dead Episode 3: Rings Over Perfect Games
    Apr 14 2022
Jared, Dallas, and Joey are back for episode three to discuss an eventful beginning to the week for Major League Baseball. Of course, the story on everyone's mind is Clayton Kershaw being pulled after seven perfect innings against the Twins. Dallas describes his reaction when he saw that Kershaw wasn't on the mound for the 8th inning and discusses the long term impact that throwing a perfect game could have on a team, its fans and the game of baseball, but also factors in the importance of winning and staying healthy into a manager's decision to pull a pitcher in this situation. But first, Jared reacts to John Sterling's botched home run call and insists that the baseball Gods must be on his side for him to have heard it live on the radio. The guys also break down Brett Phillips' pitching performance and Dallas's call of his incredible catch as well as Phillips hitting his longest and hardest hit home run after receiving a good-luck bracelet from a girl who is battling cancer for the second time. We also touch on the video that went viral of Alec Bohm saying he hates Philadelphia, the Cleveland Guardians' consistently ridiculous offense, the situation with Gabe Kapler, an ejection during the Padres/Giants game that led to the first female coach to ever step on a field during a MLB game, and Albert Pujols hitting his first home run as a Cardinal since 2011 and whether he is actually the age that he says he is. Enjoy!

  • Baseball Is Dead Episode 1: WE'RE BACK (Off-Season Recap and Predictions)
    Apr 7 2022
Jared and Dallas are BACK and this time they’re bringing along Joey, aka “Baseball Doesn’t Exist.” The guys are on a mission to prove that no matter how many people declare the sport of baseball “dead,” the real fans know that it couldn’t be a more exciting time to start getting into baseball. Jared starts episode 1 of “Baseball Is Dead” by providing some background on his hiatus from podcasting over the last month and a half. He talks about his decision to leave Barstool Sports to join DraftKings and some of the exciting new content plans he has in store for this MLB season. He welcomes Dallas back to the show and introduces Joey, a Braves fan who will bring a much-needed National League perspective to the show. The guys then breakdown some of the major signings and trades that occurred post-lockout and talk about what shocked them, what didn’t, which teams got better and which teams got worse. They cover topics from Carlos Correa signing with the Twins, to Josh Donaldson being paired up with Gerrit Cole in New York, the Braves replacing Freddie Freeman with Matt Olson, and the head-scratching signing of Kris Bryant by the Rockies. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Opening Day podcast without predictions for the season, so the guys give their takes on who they think will win Comeback Player of the Year, Manager of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Cy Young and MVP. We couldn’t be more excited to be back and we can’t wait to get into the swing of things, it’s going to be a great year! Enjoy!
