  • Ep83 - Managing Technology Risk
    Apr 29 2024

Do you know what risks you are accepting at your company? In this episode, we are going to be talking about Managing Technology Risks.

    What is Technical Risk?

Technical Risk refers to the potential for performance shortfalls in achieving explicitly established and stated technical requirements. These shortfalls may arise during the evolution of design, production, or system implementation. Here are the key points:

Definition: Technical risk encompasses the uncertainties related to the design, development, and production of a system. It affects the system’s ability to meet stakeholder expectations and technical specifications.

    Components of Risk:

    • Scenarios: These are situations or events that lead to degraded performance.
    • Likelihood: The probability (either qualitative or quantitative) of these scenarios occurring.
    • Consequences: The severity of performance degradation if a scenario materializes.

    Risk Management Process:

    • Identification: Recognize potential technical risks.
    • Mitigation: Develop plans to address risks.
    • Monitoring: Continuously assess progress and adapt as needed.

IT Team: They play a vital role in risk management by identifying, monitoring, and resolving technical risks.

Tailoring Risk Management: Customize the risk management process to suit your specific program or project while adhering to governing documentation.

  • Ep79 - The Critical Choice of Software Vendors
    Mar 4 2024

Ever wonder if the tech you are using might be the problem you are facing? Today, we are going to discuss finding the right technology for your organization.

Everyone has a list of priorities or requirements for the tools they need to do their job. Those priorities and requirements are what we use to help us decide which tool is the best.

We judge a tool by many things

    • Easy of Use

    • Easy of Access

    • Reliability

    • Brand

    • Price

    • Security Practices

    • Stance on Social Issues

Each one of these categories and other ones play into our decision-making process. We see the tools we use as an asset to our organization, helping us to do whatever we are trying to accomplish better or faster.

But what happens when the tool becomes a problem, whether Unreliability, Slow, Dangerous, Unsupported, Out of Budget, Not Secure, or Conflicting Social Stance

You are now faced with the challenge of assessing a new tool to make sure your organization is running as best as possible and not letting it lose revenue or productivity due to using the wrong tool.

Now I want to make sure you are aware that I realized that every organization is different and faces different challenges. But I also want to note that at some point everything goes through changes and you will have to make changes, large or small if your organization is to continue to run efficiently.
