  • Ep #42: The Spirit of Adventure and Tool Watches with Huiy Tang From RZE Watches
    Oct 28 2024

Join us as we talk to Huiy Tang, Co-Founder and the marketing maestro behind RZE Watches.

Assembled for adventure since 2020, RZE has been building timepieces for the everyday adventurer, pushing boundaries in quality and value again and again. Greatly inspired by the use of titanium in the aerospace industry for its strength, weight and look, and being a brand so competitively priced in its target market we find out how such stylish, durable and functional watches can be created at these highly competitive price points.

Hear how Huiy shares that spirit of adventure that he loves, and how he’d rather live the simple life, and appreciate the great outdoors with the pursuits it brings, rather than buy that big house and Lamborghini, which is a mindset that impressively flows through the other founders of the brand, Travis and Clarence. Huiy also explains why the tool watch market is the perfect choice for RZE, with a keen association with sustainability projects such as Canada’s Project Forest which sets out to rewild Canada’s local landscape, and a range of outdoor activity and highly durable tools and products.

So put on your best outdoor adventure gear, and lace up your boots, so you can buckle up and enjoy the ride as we talk to Huiy from this very unique and cool brand.

  • Ep #41: Italian Watch Design, La Dolce Vita & The Labormatic with Mo Coppoletta from Gagà Laboratorio
    Oct 18 2024

Immerse yourself in La Dolce Vita as the CP7 Boys talk to Mo Coppoletta, an avid De Bethune collector, tattoo artist and designer, as well as the man and mind behind Italy’s newly launched and stylish independent watch brand, Gagà Laboratorio.

Joining us from Verona in Italy, London-based Mo’s passion for style and flair in his debut watch, the Labormatic, is there for all to hear, but it’s his quest for the finest quality that only a good watch can have, that will win you over in this show. Like the great movie La Dolce Vita's director, Frederico Fellini, he shares that “Sweet Life” passion for making sure that feeling good is a priority, with watches and just about anything meaningful to us as individuals in life, and to never compromise that feeling. You will get a sense of how he puts his heart and soul into everything he does, especially when designing the Labormatic.

Design is one of the most important qualities of a watch, particularly in the creative independent watchmaking space, and we get to hear about the incredible design influences behind both versions of the new Gagà Laboratorio Labormatic, the Cinquanta and the Bauhaus. Discover how they are based on 1950s Milanese-inspired industrial designs, stylish Italian scooters, Smeg kitchen appliances, the Porsche 356 and surprisingly San Giorgio fans! Listen in as we unravel many strands of these 20th century design icons from the 50s and 60s in the DNA of this remarkable watch.

The boys first saw this watch at Geneva Watch Days 2024 and immediately felt compelled to talk to the man behind the vision, so buckle up and enjoy the ride as we revel in an Italian and CP7 settimo cielo”.

To mark the 1st birthday of the CP7 Podcast, which also happens to be our landmark 40th episode, we have an extremely special guest on to talk watches and a few other unexpected topics too! The CP7 Boys chat to none other than Robert Jan Broer, affectionately known as RJ, the Founder of Europe's leading watch enthusiast online platform Fratello. Not only is he the main man at Fratello, he is also the creator of Speedy Tuesday on social media and a huge Omega Speedmaster collector.

No show with RJ can start without a Speedmaster kick off and boy do we get into some depth about how important it is in the watch icon hierarchy, and how many different models have been made, including a red Speedmaster Racing Michael Schumacher Edition, that Andy had handled which was owned by former Williams and McClaren Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

You'll be blown away by what RJ thinks is the most important watch made in the history of the watch industry, as it's most certainly not what you think!

The boys also get RJ's valuable personal yet experienced insight into what will be a future icon that hasn't quite made it to that "label" yet, and what he rules out as not quite making the cut, of course giving his reasons why. Listen in to RJ's opinion on what is collectible and what is not as he uses the very interesting Porsche 911 vs Porsche Boxster collectibility debate. Finally what brands need a bit more recognition due to merit and continuous improvement rather than hype? So let's talk Omega, Rolex, Cartier plus many more.

For these answers, great insights and a lot of fun, buckle up and enjoy the ride as we mark this monumental show with one of the boys' most favourite and fun episodes so far.

    Yes he’s back, back again!
The resident gentleman of The CP7 Podcast, Mr Martin Green. Interrupting his busy schedule in the Netherlands, Martin finally prioritised between being Editor At Large for Watch Time USA magazine, and the GPHG Academy’s voting panel to take his place as the unofficial third member of Chrono Passion 7!

This episode was supposed to be the CP7 Geneva Watch Days Review Part 2 but the opportunity of having Martin on was too good to pass up. So as Martin missed Geneva Watch Days 2024 he asks the boys a few questions to calm his FOMO before the real watch talk begins.

Do we really need a quest for the world’s thinnest watch? Why are some three dial chronographs called Bicompax and not Tricompax? Which independent brands are the ones to look out for? But most importantly, which watches have been caught on the radar of our trio?

So buckle up, sit back, and enjoy the ride for a lot of watch talk, fun and special insights from your favourite watch-related podcast!
