Day-7: Handling Delay-2. Overcoming Procrastination

  • Summary

  • In this lesson, Pushpendra elucidates a detailed step-by-step methodology of overcoming the habit of procrastination. Having understood the chief causes of procrastination in lesson 6, in this succeeding lesson, the learners can bring that understanding to practical application and make an attempt to overcome procrastination. The lesson highlights the steps starting with the advice to break an apparently herculean task into small and manageable targets. Once done, it is recommended that one first undertakes the most difficult task, get it out of the way, and then concentrates on smaller and easier tasks. Besides, the lesson also introduces the Kaizen Principle, or the one-minute-principle, which if adhered to, can lead to gradual development of good habits and eradication of bad ones. In this lesson, the course instructor also highlights the need to constantly acknowledge the achievement of small goals such that it leads one to higher and bigger goals. The following questions are meant to develop more understanding of the topic. 1. When working with a deadline, do you prefer to submit your work right on time, after the submission date, or long before the submission date? Recall from your previous experiences. 2. Do you think "flow state" can enhance productivity? How can you get in a flow state? 3. Think of at least three goals for the current year and why they are important to you?
