We welcome Kyle to the show! So fortunate to sit down with him and get to talk about his career in contract forestry. Coming from the midwest Kyle was lucky to grow up in the land of lakes but was eager to explore the PNW. After college he made his way to the west and found various jobs working as a forester, living out of his car and exploring numerous national forests.

Kyle has made a living performing surveys, most notably the Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) surveys for local national forests. He shares some of his most notable growing moments in his career and fine tuning his survey skills.

Jim and Holly are a rare breed. Two local biologists take the chance of a lifetime, sharing a position on Taylor Ranch for the University of Idaho in the remote Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho. Over these 21 years they make amazing local discoveries in predator's and prey movements as well changing the lives of students that visited during the summer months. They share the ups and downs of living so remote as well as the tragedy of the fires of 2000. Mark and his family have been a large part of the North East Oregon community for generations. He shares stories of the important things; family, friends, and working hard. Mark and the people he chats about really emphasize the phrase "they don't make 'em like they used to". There are stories of fighting fire from a dozer to ER trips to the legendary 4th of July BBQ. We welcome to the show Renae, she shares her story of being a wildland firefighter, initial attack dispatcher ,a hotshot superintendent's wife, the Center Manager of the Blue Mountain Interagency dispatch center, and a program specialist for the Casualty Assistance Program a interagency organization that support families and loved ones when serious injury occurs. Renae has a gift for navigating the logistical and emotional needs of firefighters and their families. She highlights the harsh realities of losing folks on and off duty and the resources that have been established to assist all individuals involve. Renae shares some of the ways she looks for the good in live with her dogs and quality time with her family. It was a pleasure spending time with her and listening to a well respected leader and master of her craft.

For those who are not as familiar with different hunting sports here is a brief description of how some people run hounds in Oregon. Hopefully this helps understand Ted's episode a bit better.

We welcome Ted Craddock who is an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife State Researcher and Houndsmen. He has spent a lifetime in the woods from logging, running dogs, to guiding. Ted is an avid advocate of predator management he shares his life among the trees.

Olan shares his story with us from homelessness as a child to fishing in the Bering sea to Wildland firefighting to becoming an impactful teacher and coach in rural oregon. You can hear his passion and energy throughout the entire podcast. He shares the in's and out's of his environmental curriculum that involves prescribed burns with local ODF units, planting trees, trail's and recreation clean up days, and so much more. One of Olan's favorite parts of having so many activities within his curriculum is allowing his students to appreciate the cool country and recreation opportunities that are just a step from their front door.

Olan is a man that wear's many hats as he is a coach, teacher, and philanthropist. He shares some specifics of the charities he volunteer's for over seas and how he utilizes his local community to help those in need across the world. He founded a kindness club at his charter school and speak's to how this is a driving force in all that he does.
