    Judicial Law and School Policy

The Fourteenth Amendment Landmark case: Brown v. Board of Education, the Court concluded that separate educational facilities are inherently unequal. The Court noted that education is the most essential function of state and local governments and the foundation of good citizenship. Education includes intangible considerations, such as the ability to study, to engage in discussions with other students, and, in general, to learn a profession. To separate students based on race creates "a feeling of inferiority as to their status in the community that may affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely ever to be undone." Therefore, the Court concluded that the doctrine of "separate but equal" has no place in public education. School leaders are accountable for upholding the education system's policies and procedures. They must have high-level management abilities, the ability to connect with students, and versatile communication skills.

Buddy Thornton: Why are parents are having a difficult time understanding exactly how the school choice initiative will be used with students, and what are some ways we as a community can address the gap in parent understanding.?

Jerry Green: Applying the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the public-school setting mandates that all children have the right to free public education. Why has this question resurfaced in our educational institutions?

Dr. Isaac Carrier: What are the top 3-5 challenges that school leaders will face in the 2024-2025 school year when overseeing district education programs' planning, organization, operation, supervision, and evaluation?
