Essential listening but could be more nuanced
I really like the series but the part about male contraceptive pill is misleading. It was stopped because of severe side effects, which are in fact similar to women’s side effects however there is one key information mission. Drugs will not be approved if the ratio between benefit and risk is off. The benefit for men is to not get somebody pregnant. That is great but if they do get somebody pregnant the risk to themselves is 0%. However every pregnancy carries a huge risk for any woman. So in women the benefit greatly outweighs the risks. In the men the benefits are not that great as pregnancy has no effect on their bodies. In fact, many of the participants wanted to continue the trials but the way ethics in medicine works nowadays requires the trials to stop.

Author’s own prejudice makes story unpalatable
This is such an important book. But the author is ridiculously tangled in own agenda and confused by what will be „on trend” with „genderised” language and biology & science.
while talking about bias against women, author keeps on calling women „pregnant person”, „person who menstruates” etc. After pages evidencing that only man were took into consideration for treatments - which is really a massive point- goes on that they were actually „cis man” and those „identified at birth as women” were not.
I’m so disappointed that such a good story, got hijacked by that.
