  • Fulham Women: Bridging the Gap
    Jan 13 2025
Claire, Jack and Yasmin join Sammy on today's pod to react to the Fulham Womens team's heavy but honourable defeat to the London City Lionesses in the FA Cup. Fulham Women were the lowest ranked side still left in the competition and coming up against a team flying in the Women's Championship was always going to be a tough ask. After a valiant first 25 minutes of soaking up pressure, Fulham conceded to an impressive Boye-Hlorkah hat-trick that seemed to punish the smallest of errors. An Asllani penalty and a composed finish from Goodwin, saw the London City Lionesses secure a position in the next round of the competition. But Fulham Women can be proud of their progress and return to their aim of progressing out of the fifth tier of the football league. We review the highlights of Sunday's midday match and discuss the wider context of the womens' game, looking over how greater investment in the side could bridge the gap between Fulham's and other Premier League womens sides. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. • Thursday Club: Giving Wat Four
    Jan 10 2025
Well, it's nice to be comfortable - and Fulham were for the vast majority of Thursday night, where Watford were brushed aside in the FA Cup with relative ease, even with a much changed squad from Marco Silva. We examine the performance, as well as the weirdly subdued atmosphere at the Cottage during this game; and revel in our Magic Mexican's comfort from the spot and a some homegrown joy to boot. Then we move onwards to preview our game against West Ham on Tuesday night in Stratford, facing opposition who will be under new manager Graham Potter for just the second time. There's a little examination of Marco's excellent record against the former Brighton & Chelsea manager, as well as some thoughts on how Fulham should best set up at the London Stadium and who should keep their place from the Watford game. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. • Leif It Out!
    Jan 6 2025
Another draw against a team in the relegation zone... but thankfully, this one's not short of talking points. George is joined by Yasmin, Fred, and Elizabeth to look back at a game full of big moments and controversy. We start by discussing Silva's team selection, as he stuck with the five-at-the-back formation that saw us beat Chelsea at the Bridge less than a fortnight ago, and talk through performances across the park, from Calvin Bassey to Emile Smith-Rowe. Then, unfortunately, we've got to talk about the referee - Darren Bond - whose performance as a Premier League official left a lot to be desired. Then we take a bunch of listener questions, including about our ineptitude at creating chances from corners and the 'pink shirt curse' at the Cottage. • Thursday Club: Tractors on Thames
    Jan 2 2025
Sammy and Jack reconvene for the first time in 2025 as Fulham look forward to another year of thrills, spills and everything in between. We start with a final word on the two games over the festive period - the win over Chelsea and the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, analysing some of the key decisions that went for and against the Whites, before moving things on to our first game of the New Year, which comes against Ipswich at the Cottage this weekend. The Tractor Boys have fought their corner hard in the Premier League, against massive odds, and picked up their first home win of the campaign against Chelsea on Monday, so will be brimming with confidence as they come to the Cottage - especially given they had the better of our draw against them earlier in the season, so there's plenty to be wary of against Kieran McKenna's men. Can Fulham make a winning start to the New Year and give off a statement of intent in the hunt for European football? -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. • Two Points Diopped
    Dec 30 2024
After the high of boxing day, it was always going to be tricky to get excited about a home match against Bournemouth, but on Sunday both sets of supporters were treated to an entertaining match between two high quality sides. Fulham will certainly feel aggrieved after a late equaliser and two contentious decisions not going our way, but in the end, a point was probably a fair result. Sammy, Avais and Ivan review the match before getting into all sorts of topics from how to announce VAR decisions to the team's top three memories from 2024. Happy New Year to you and let's hope 2025 is just as good a year for the Fulham. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. • Thursday Club: A White Christmas
    Dec 27 2024
45 years of hurt, ended in one smooth roll of Rodrigo Muniz's left foot. Fulham have finally ended the Hoodoo at Stamford Bridge, by coming out victorious in a Brilliant Boxing Day Battle that ended 2-1 to the Whites. We take a look back at the glory of what went down in those final 15 minutes at the old dog track, analyse the performance, the tactics, the shift put in by every player to a man, and the way Fulham turned the screw on their hosts in the second half. This weekend, Bournemouth visit the Cottage for our final game of 2024 and we examine whether we can carry the emotional high of Thursday into our game against the high-flying Cherries, as well as any possible injury-returnees, before we wrap things up. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Dec 23 2024
Well that was dull... Elizabeth takes the reins for reaction following a humbling point at home to Southampton. Fulham's unbeaten run in December had promised fans a calming and festive ride into the Christmas week but unfortunately, Father Christmas decided to deliver a nice big sack of coal. However, an uninspiring game does not faze our guests, Izzy Barker, Dan Cooke and Jack Kelly. Despite the lack of goals, they find plenty to discuss from Sunday afternoon. They take a look back at Silva's surprising line-up that featured Josh King and Tom Cairney, review Muniz's disappointing attempt to revive his purple patch from last season and try to decipher exactly what to do with a looming injury crisis. In part two, they answer your listeners' questions and finally, to try to rescue any remnants of festive spirit, Elizabeth rounds off the podcast with a musical treat from resident DJ, Sam Witcher. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. • Thursday Club: Rusk and Roulette
    Dec 19 2024
The Thursday Club is back in studio for the final word on our 2-2 draw with Premier League leaders Liverpool, where Fulham would have snapped your hand off for a point before the game, but came away somewhat disappointed with not taking all three in the end. We chat about the tactics Silva used, the influence of Antonee Robinson, and Andreas Pereira's return to the team - as well as the amount of points that Fulham have dropped from winning positions this season. Then it's on to the weekend ahead, where the Whites host bottom-of-the-pile Southampton at Craven Cottage. You'd think, given the performances against top sides of late, that this would be a guaranteed win - but this is famously Fulham we're talking about, and Southampton are a bit of a wildcard in that they'll have a new manager at the helm following the sacking of Russell Martin after their dismantling at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. We finish with some of your questions, including some on peroxide-blonde hair affecting performances, Emile Smith-Rowe's performances across this season so far, home fans in the away end at Liverpool and what the club could do to stop it, and loads more! -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs.
