  • THE POWER TO CHANGE
    Mar 26 2024

    Hello World, I'm Justas.

I am seventeen years old and I come from Lithuania.

In our last episode - we talked a lot about fear….and how fear makes us look at the world and people around us. But fear also does something to ourselves.

When I feel scared…. or really stressed, my mind goes blank … and then…. I can’t think straight. I like to change that, cause one day I want to become a musician

But change doesn’t happen just like that. We have to work for it. But how do you start?

In a world full of filters, harsh editing and constant media noise…how do we break through? How do we speak up? How do we get heard? One goal of the Hello World project is to promote active citizenship and amplify young peoples’ voices. It may sound all fancy but I know we have a lot to say!

In this episode, my Danish friend Johannes said that he wanted to make a story about young people's right to vote.

  • THE POWER OF RIPPLES
    Mar 26 2024

In our last episode we talked about active citizenship and the power to change. Our Danish friend Johannes explored the subject of young people’s right to vote…which is something that he feels very strongly about.

But the power to change is a whole lot bigger than our right to place a vote for a party every few years…and sometimes change comes in different forms and volumes. Some change happens suddenly, like the big splash you get when you throw a rock into the water. The big splash is one thing. But then…we have the ripples. It’s the opposite of the big splash and we will never know the impact of the ripples that flows from something you heard or were inspired by. It’s a more unknow and discrete kind of change….But sustainable…and so profound.

Just think about Greta Thunberg and how from one day deciding to go on a Global Climate strike she has started a “youth quake” were an estimated 1,6 million young people in 125 different countries took to the streets, demanding world leaders to take climate action – now. All this started with her sitting down peacefully every Friday, a few years ago. We do not know today, where this is going to end. This episode is a tribute to everyone who has ever had the spine to speak their mind, even when it’s difficult…and the ripple effects that flows from your courage.

A few weeks ago, we met up in Denmark and discussed different issues that we feel strongly about, like eduaction. There was an ocean of topics in school that needs to be addressed…and we will…but on other platforms than this episode. Because what it all boiled down to, is a genuine wish from us teens to feel cared for and seen for who we are. This will be a big focus in this episode.

    Enjoy!

  • THE POWER OF DIALOGUE
    Feb 12 2024

Where does peace begin? The Nobel Peace Center say that "those who listen...change the world", and that is what we are hoping to be a part of, one conversation...and one podcast at a time.

While producing a podcast about the war in Ukraine, our group is being put to the test. Communication is far from easy....and especially when we feel afraid, threatened...or when someone is challenging our very core beliefs. But in "Hello World" we do not shy away from difficult subjects....instead we try to go back and do what we promised to do.... to listen some more...and we look for role models and helpers around us. May it be teachers, parents, friends or Nobel Peace Laureates like Nelson Mandela, who said that the very best weapon is to sit down and actually talk. This episode is a tribute to everyone who wishes to live in peace and is ready to work for it!

  • SISU - THE POWER FROM WITHIN
    Feb 12 2024

In this episode we’ll focus on what makes our hearts beat faster. We are curious to find out what happens to our bodies and minds when that fire in a real Finnish Sauna gets going. We’ll take you along to enjoy a steamy Sauna with our Finnish guru Antti.

We’re also traveling to Turkey, which is another country world famous for their steamý baths and saunas. So originally - our Turkish friends Nisa and Neslahen were going to make a story about this. But in the middle of the night, on the 6th of February Syria and Turkey was struck by an earthquake that killed almost 60 000 people, injured twice as many and left more than 1,5 million people homeless. So Turkey’s story is a story about real inner strength or sisu and also hope in the aftermath of the earthquake…it’s about our families and friends and all the rescue workers who never stopped working. And this episode is a tribute to them.

  • THE POWER OF EXPRESSION
    Feb 12 2024

Why is it so hard to feel like we are good enough? And what do we do, when everything looks so great on the surface but it feels like we’re crumbling into pieces on the inside? Why is it so hard to express how we truly feel about something? And how do we ask for help?

In our second episode of Hello World, Lykke and Thea from Norway share an intimate conversation with actor, writer and influencer Ulrikke Falk, who might be best known as Vilde from Skam. We also get to listen to a sweet interview by Esther from Sweden who talks to Siri about the power of expressing yourself through words and music. Siri also wrote and recorded the lead tune in this episode.

  • MY SUPERPOWER ADHD
    Feb 12 2024

Do you believe this world can be a better place? Well, then this podcast is for you!

Hello World…my name is Malou and I’m from Denmark. I am fourteen years old and this podcast is made by me and my friends from many different countries across Europe.

There are so many podcasts out there…often aiming for a young audience…but almost always produced by adults and with adults making up the topics and asking all the questions….so we are going to do the opposite.

In this podcast series, it’s me and my friend's who chose the topics…and we are going to create a podcast for - and about - people of all ages. Cause’ age is not that important to us. What is important to us is to share our perspective and listen to people who have interesting and important stories to tell the world…. and that's why we call it "Hello World".

To interview someone means… to meet or get a glimpse of another person’s life…. and that’s a real PRI-VIL-IGE so we promise to hold space and listen respectfully to the people we meet. ‘Cause many people think that making a podcastis all about being a good storyteller…. but in HELLO WORLD we want to focus on being really good storylisteners as well.

This first episode of Hello World is about mental health… and we will share two of the many interviews our “Hello World” team has worked on.

“Hello World” is a podcast project and a collaboration between seven different countries aiming to promote active citizenship among teenagers and strengthen the participants' digital and emotional literacy. “Hello World” is funded by Erasmus + and can be found on many different platforms, such as Spotify, Soundcloud and Apple Podcast.
