Health and Healing Dealing with Trauma and Addictions

By: Michael D.
  • Summary

  • Hello, welcome to the podcast of health and healing in the areas of addiction and abuse, with Michael. My passion and interest started with becoming aware that many of us have childhood traumas that we carry into our adult lives, but we didn't have them addressed or never acknowledged that we had an addiction or a mental illness. Some of the abuses, we suffered were slight or verbal that we just wrote off, other abuses were kept in secret for many years. Now we want to expose those lie-based beliefs, through tools and partnering with the Holy Spirit to help us heal those traumas and Illnesses to become whole. Hurt people hurt people, so we must seek ways to heal so that we can assist others in their healing processes. Disclaimer: * I am not a doctor or professional therapist. However, I am licensed and an ordained Minister, who's interest was piqued as it related to my personal journey and struggles with addictions and abuses that found their way into every aspect of my life unknowingly. God knows I'm a work in progress. Come along as we heal together.

  • The Psychology of Deadbeat Dads: Understanding Why Some Fathers Fail to Provide Support ode
    Nov 8 2024

Deadbeat Fathers: A father who neglects his responsibilities as a parent, especially one who does not pay child support. Which can also be a mother. The phrase "deadbeat dad" is a familiar one, and yet it's often misused.
While the word "deadbeat" actually appears in some states' child support guidelines, not all parents who've fallen behind on child support payments are willfully refusing to support their children financially. There're huge financial, cultural and racial issues that are prevalent and ways to compartmentalize, assist, dealing with and correcting the stereotypical behaviors. From the 1970s to the 90s, the federal government implemented multiple harsh enforcement measures within the program. These policies have a long history of punishing people for being people of color and poor. Overall, roughly 15 percent of all men of color in larger U.S. cities have been incarcerated at some point for nonpayment of child support, compared with 5 percent of fathers overall. Men wake-up and take care of your children (period).

  • Black Love or War? How racism hinders Black dating and relationships and Divorce amongst Christians
    Sep 27 2024

Slavery and racism historically prevented and disrupted Black marital unions and continues to plague the Black community and Black relationships today.

In the aftermath of slavery, the states denounced courtship and marital arrangements that American Africans devised during slavery and presented Christian heterosexual marriage as a gateway to responsible citizenship, targeting men of color to be social patristical provider and women of color to be subordinate helpmates.
Enter now policies that worked against people of color men and women. It would be these policies that would create an unprecedented displacement of Black families with men being forced to leave their homes to ensure financial stability.
Now for Christians, people have analyzed what the Bible is really telling us and how to interpret it. Many hold tightly to the claim that God’s view on divorce is that it is a sin.
