• The PATTeRN Research Generator and The Print Bay with Peter Moore

    J. Peter Moore is a poet and scholar who teaches and writes on U.S. literature and culture, particularly modern and contemporary poetry and poetics, aesthetic theory and African-American literature. He also works in the overlapping fields of material culture and print history, establishing and directing Purdue University’s first letterpress studio, The Print Bay.

     

    As a member of the Honors College, he has been able to develop a number of courses based upon his research on postwar vernacular studies. These include an interdisciplinary writing course on theories of everyday life, a topics course on radical black aesthetics and a letterpress studio practicum on the history of the poetry broadside. Dr. Moore is also the Director of Creative Scholarly Projects in the Honors College, where he advises students on proposing and completing creative projects in fulfillment of capstone degree requirements.

    Dr. Jason Ware is the Clinical Associate Professor & Direcor of Treks Research Generator as well as the Director of the Community and Well-being learning collaborative, which is group of scholars whose work focuses on community well-being 

    Jason has worked extensively with the Faith Community Development Corporation, Habitat for Humanity, the Edgelea Neighborhood Coalition, and the City of Lafayette to impact local issues. Jason weaves this community well-being focus throughout his teaching, discovery, and engagement at Purdue. Jason has served as a board member for: 1) the Hanna Community Center, 2) the New Community School, 3) Leadership Lafayette, and 4) Habitat for Humanity-Lafayette.

    Dr. Dwaine Jengelley’s research focuses on the factors that influence how journalists report the news, and media coverage of race. In this area, he explores the negativity in terrorism and climate change news coverage. He also researches the portrayals of the Black Lives Matter movement in editorial cartoons. His teaching interests include terrorism, security and technology, global development, sports and politics. Dr. Jengelley is also the director of the Interdisciplinary Sports Studies Research Generator in the John Martinson Honors College.

    Ben Miller is an Economics graduate of what is now called the Mitch Daniels School of Business at Purdue. He was also an honors student at Purdue – and now works as a policy researcher with the RAND corporation. The RAND corporation is not actually a corporation – it is a nonprofit institution that, according to its mission, helps improve policy and decision making through research and analysis.  Ben holds several positions at RAND – first as an economist – and also a professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School, and a research quality assurance manager for RAND's Social and Economic Well-Being Division  Ben will be in residence at the John Martinson Honors College on September 29.
