Scott and guest co-host, Joshua Dobbs of Danger Room Recording Services the past, present and future with legendary recording engineer Don Zientara of Inner Ear Studios.
Don Zientara is a legendary recording engineer best known for capturing the raw energy and distinctive sound of Washington DC's hardcore punk scene at his Inner Ear Studios. Since the late 1970s, he has recorded countless influential bands including Minor Threat, Fugazi, Bad Brains, Rites of Spring, Nation of Ulysses, and Jawbox. Zientara's recording techniques and commitment to preserving each band's authentic live sound helped define the "DC sound" that became synonymous with Dischord Records and the city's punk movement. His stripped-down, no-frills approach perfectly complemented the DIY ethos of the era, while his technical expertise ensured that the recordings maintained both clarity and power. Working closely with Ian MacKaye and Dischord Records for over four decades, Zientara's engineering work at Inner Ear became an integral part of punk rock history.
