On October 7, 2023, Kibbutz Beeri was one of the Israeli Gaza border communities attacked by Hamas terrorists, suffering more than 100 murdered, and dozens kidnapped. Yair Rotem was home alone that day, taking shelter in his safe room that's meant for protection against bombs, not terrorists shooting and burning entire houses to the ground. As he sat in his shelter, he was texting with his sister, the last communication from whom was that she, his niece, and her friend had been kidnapped. As we approach one year since that horrible day, we share this story of survival personally, and that of the entire community.

On October 7, 2023, Rachel Goldberg’s life changed forever when she learned that her 23 year old son, Hersh Goldberg-Polin had been kidnapped by Hamas and was held hostage in Gaza. Last month, Rachel and her husband Jon were invited to speak at the Democratic National Convention. This week, Hersh and five other Israeli hostages were executed by Hamas terrorists, and Hersh’s body was recovered and buried in Jerusalem. In his memory and as a comfort to the Goldberg-Polin family and all the hostage families, we rebroadcast this conversation from January 2024. Nearly 100 days have passed. May the Almighty bring home all the remaining hostages, and provide abundant love and comfort to them and their families.
