  • Episode 1152 - Jarvis Kingston Thank God for the ways in which He's protected and delivered you through a difficult time. 2024 Election Day
    Nov 5 2024
Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Psalm 66:5
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. Psalm 83:3

    DEVOTION
    Based on Psalm 83
Tonight's psalmist understood the common temptation to want to fight back against those who conspire against us and inspires us to be honest about our struggles and temptations with wanting to solve our problems on our own instead of giving them to the Lord. Even though we're supposed to pray for our enemies, it's hard not to want to fight back if for no other reason than to satisfy our own need to act.

But when foes rise against us, we can rest assured that God is with us to help us fight our battles, and His ways are always best. We can find comfort knowing we never have to face adversity alone and that He is still in control. As you prepare to read tonight's psalm, take a moment to lift any harbored resentment or anger against others to God. Clear your mind of any distractions and focus on hearing His voice through His Word.
    A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Think about how powerful and Almighty God is, taking joy in knowing and serving this Almighty God. Invite His presence to be near to you as you wind down the day. Find comfort in knowing you serve the one, true God who controls all of the earth.

CONFESSION: Think of a tumultuous time when you did not trust God to work for your good. Confess any doubts you have of God's power and any fear of others you are holding on to. Ask Him to help you focus on and turn to Him when you need help.

THANKSGIVING: Thank God for the ways in which He's protected and delivered you through a difficult time. Thank Him, in advance, for the ways in which He will continue to help you and for the times when He will deliver you in the future.

SUPPLICATION: Lord, You know my heart, and I ask You to move in my life in a mighty way. Rise against those who rise against me, and help me remember that I am secure in Your hands. I trust in You and look to You for peace. I praise Your holy Name. Amen.

    PRAYER
“Come, and see God’s deeds— awesome work on behalf of the children of men.”
    PSALM 66:5
Dear God, tonight as I wind down, I am reminded of the still waters that calm my soul. Your presence calms me like gentle waves against the shore. I thank You for the gift of another day. The challenges and triumphs of today have brought me one step closer to fulfilling Your purpose for my life. And as I close my eyes tonight, I pray that You will attend to the voice of my prayer and hear my deepest desires. Help me to align my will with Yours and to trust that Your plans for me are more extraordinary than anything I can imagine. May I rest knowing that You are the living water that quenches my thirst for meaning and purpose. Thank You, God, for the peace that comes from knowing that You are always with me. May Your love surround me like the waves of the sea, carrying me into a deep and restful sleep. In Jesus’s holy name, I pray, Amen.

    Nov 4 2024
Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Psalm 65:5

Defend the poor and fatherless do justice to the afflicted and needy. Psalm 82:3

    DEVOTION
    Based on Psalm 82
Focusing on the brokenness in our world can overwhelm our spirits and make our hearts heavy with anger and sadness. In these moments, it's vital to remember that God is sovereign over all the nations and their leaders. Our most important role is to pray for justice and restoration and to love those who have been victimized, leaving the final consequences in His hands.

Tonight, let us receive strength from God's Word to stand up for what is right in His eyes and find rest for our souls as we submit to Him and His ways.
    A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Meditate on the mercy and justice of the Lord and what it means for your life tonight. Picture Him as a righteous judge who perfectly rules over the earth with fairness and equity. He sees every injustice and casts judgment in His righteousness and in His truth. One day there will be accountability for all who defended the unjust and showed partiality to the wicked. Find comfort in the hope of God's redemption of His world and restoration of His justice.

CONFESSION: Think of a time when you committed a wrong and received grace from God instead of consequences you thought would occur. Determine to remember this the next time you are tempted to carry out justice on your own.

THANKSGIVING: Praise God for His mercy and justice, rejoicing in His sovereignty. Thank Him for the times when He has made things right in your life and in our world.

SUPPLICATION: Lord, I see injustice all around me, and l want to help in ways that honor You. Give me wisdom and discernment when making judgment calls in my mind. Help me to remember Your grace in my life and that, in the end, You are the One to act justly over all of humanity. Please unburden my heart now and give me rest tonight, knowing the world is in Your hands. Fill me with Your peace as I turn to You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

    PRAYER
“By awesome deeds of righteousness, you answer us, God of our salvation. You who are the hope of all the ends of the earth, of those who are far away on the sea.”
    PSALM 65:5
Dear Lord, as I lay down to rest, I am grateful for the goodness and grace surrounding me. In this peaceful moment, I lift my voice to You, O God of our salvation, with all the gratitude and gladness of a heart that knows Your love. By marvelous deeds, You answer me with righteousness, and in the stillness of this night, I am filled with wonder at the majesty of Your creation. The stars that twinkle above me cast a glow of peace and tranquility, and the soft rustling of the leaves reminds me that I am never truly alone. Even as I close my eyes, I feel Your spirit comforting and keeping me safe. At this moment, I know that I am loved and cherished and that nothing can ever separate me from Your embrace. As I drift off to sleep, I give thanks for the beauty surrounding me and the landscape that speaks of Your glory and power. Keep me safe and secure in Your perfect love. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
