Little Dome: August 2004 (Olympic Marathon, EastEnders thefts and Bernard Levin)

  • Summary

  • Comedy writer Gareth Gwynn spent August 2004 mopping up melted ice cream, Esyllt Sears spent it travelling between London and Cardiff and a group of Olympic marathon runnners spent it navigating the route of the 1896 marathon - although a (since defrocked) Irish priest had other plans. The interrupted marathon is one of the topics covered in this look back at the news 20 years ago this month - and there's a brief visit to 1963 as we remember the journalist Bernard Levin and a moment he'd probably rather forget.

Video of the olympic marathon incident is here and the video of Bernard Levin being punched is here.
