By: Austin Kapur of Plum & Parcel
  • Summary

  • Are you an entrepreneur or marketing/PR gal that is tired of crafting campaigns and pitching stories that don’t feel purposeful? Does your current place of business need a better marketing and PR strategy to break through the darkness? Do you desire to drive more light into this world by sharing your purpose-driven products, services and/or gifts, but don’t know where to start? If any of this resonates, you’re in the right place. Hi, I’m Austin and not long ago, I was right there with you, fighting the tension between showing up well in and outside of my corporate workplace, and consistently creating campaigns and telling stories that broke through the darkness. I was rundown, lost and in need of more joy and light in my life as a busy working wife, mama, daughter, sister, friend… you know, all the roles. Thankfully, I found inspiration from other boss babes fast (and you can too)! After being directed to reevaluate my long-term priorities and goals, including bringing my whole self, kiddos and all, plus my art for purpose-driven storytelling to the workplace, I established flexible work with amazing companies and team members who were (and are) on board with my mission. *Cue: Plum & Parcel, an integrated marketing and communications agency, that enables intentional, purpose-driven businesses to be seen and heard. • 50 | Year Mark Celebration + Personal Update
    Jul 2 2024

One year ago, I setoff on a crazy adventure.

I started a podcast, and recorded myself talking into a weird bulging mic for ~30 minutes every single week. 😵

Over the course of 365 days, I covered topics I'd been waiting to share with a broader audience for years.

From strategic planning to content batching to marketing and PR differences… You know, the simple things in a communication girl's life. 💁‍♀️

I am amazed by what we accomplished in 50 weeks (yes, I took 2 weeks off in the year), but I'm also ready for how we can improve.

Although, our most streamed episode received over 150 listens in the first day, and 8 lovely guests brought overwhelming awareness to the podcast, there's still a lot we can do, and we're excited to get started. 💪

However, as the podcast grows and priorities shift, the same goes for life…

With this major accomplishment, we've decided to take six weeks off from podcasting, email newsletters and social media posts to celebrate summer. 🥳

While we know that consistency is key to success, so is resting and resetting.

We'll be doing that amid chasing kiddos across open fields and attempting to catch them in lukewarm swimming pools. What will you be doing this summer? 😜

Lookout for Season 2 of the Marketing Your Purpose podcast this fall when we're back with fresh marketing tips, and incredible guests.

Thank you for being such a BIG support to us over this last year!

  • 49 | How to Create and Manage a Flexible Schedule
    Jun 25 2024

FUN FACT: About 90% of the time, my MYP podcast episodes are scripted… but this week, it's time to get vulnerable 😳

Over the past two years (since the birth of my son), I’ve been working on creating and managing a flexible schedule… and, it has been a long time coming.

Since opening Plum & Parcel 10 years ago, a lot has changed. From my client base, to bringing on multiple contractors, to going back to the corporate world and growing a family. 🫣

It’s been a whirlwind of a decade! But like my friend Desiree, who I spoke with in our episode last week, I get the opportunity to play a very practical role in my house with my two (almost three) kiddos.

Now, with my time being more limited, it's time to start prioritizing how I spend it. ⌛ If you're a working mama, you know where I'm coming from!

This week I'm chatting unscripted through how I am creating and managing a flexible schedule in my business. 📅 And, how you can too!

If you have a few minutes to spare in your busy schedule, plug those headphones in. 🎧 It’s time to dive in!

  • 48 | Bachelorette Alum Desiree Siegfried on Why She Chose Homeschooling and Ministry over Business
    Jun 18 2024

By now, I assume you've probably heard a bit about the Bachelor franchise.

    🌹

As a seasoned reality TV connoisseur, Bachelorette season 9 lead Desiree Siegfried (previously Desiree Hartsock) was one of my favorites, which is why I asked her to join me on the podcast this week. 🤗🎙

Although the Bachelorette was just the beginning of a beautiful journey that led her to becoming a:

    • Homeschooling mom of almost three 👩‍👦‍👦🤱,
    • Writing her memoir, The Road to Roses📚,
    • Launching her podcast, Do You See?🎙 and,
    • Starting Prayer Doves, a prayer community and online shop 🕊️

Des and I first connected over an influencer campaign nearly 10 years ago. A lot has changed since Desiree made her TV appearance in 2013, and accepted that partnership request. 👪

It's a great reminder that roles and priorities shift all.the.time, and how we choose to respond to those nudges and requests is what sets us apart.

If you're interested to hear what Desiree is focused on in this season + how she's chosen to use her platform since going on the Bachelorette, tune into EP 48! 🎧

You won't want to miss it 🌹
