One of Britain's best chefs, Guy Owen, dropped in for a chat with the OneDevon Podcast to discuss a wide range of topics, from learning his trade under Gordon Ramsay to the ever changing role of the chef, thanks to Social Media.Food, and Owen's skills and expertise, remain at the forefront, and his talents have seen him ascend to the higher echelons of Britain's dining scene. After growing up in a family full of cooks - his grandfather managed the Leckford Estate while his parents owned a pub - he plied his trade as a teenager in a fish shop before moving to London's prestigious Claridges restaurant, a Michelin-starred venue owned by Ramsay. His development continued at other restaurants in London before returning to the South West at Devon's Gidleigh Park where he worked under Michael Caines."Gidleigh taught me all about the discipline needed to become one of the best in the country," Owen said."Very tough, long hours, but very rewarding when you saw the food leaving the kitchen."In 2015, he became the head chef at Idle Rocks in Cornwall. Here, he uses fresh, local produce to conjure up amazing dishes on a consistent basis. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices.
