    पश्चिम बंगाल के बहुत से कारीगर सैकड़ो वर्षो से अनोखी शंख से बनी हुई चूड़ियों बना रहे है। यह शंख दक्षिण भारत में स्तिथ रामेश्वरम और थूथुकुड़ी (पूर्व में जिसे तूतीकोरिन) क्षेत्र से आता है मगर इन चूड़ियों को बनाया जाता है कोलकत्ता के बैऱकपुर ज़िले में। अब भारत में शंख की फ़िशिंग मना है और इसी वजह से अब इन चूड़ियों के लिए शंख श्रीलंका से भी लाया जाता है।
