  • What has stood out in the Pacers 1st week of play? Chris Denari joins to discuss
    Nov 1 2024
On today's episode of Setting The Pace, Alex Golden is joined by Chris Denari to look at the Pacers first week of play and share what's been good, what's been bad, and what this team can learn from the games they've played. Chris shares some insight into the Pacers trip to Orlando, why he is a fan of Raising Canes, whether or not Quinn Buckner is ready to let a smothered chicken out anytime soon and what makes Quinn so beloved around the league. Here are the questions we discussed during the podcast: -Will the win against Boston be the turnaround this team needs from their slow start? -Bennedict Mathurin was a key contributor in both Pacers' wins: Can he and does he need to sustain a high level of play overall for the Pacers to have success? -What are the protocols on reporting injuries in game - Andrew Nembhard exited game against Boston with a knee injury -TJ McConnell's playing time in Orlando reduced. Will Pacers elect to rest him on back-to-backs? -Will the Pacers need to add a center to their roster with the Wiseman injury and Myles already missing a game with an injury? -Why has Tyrese gotten off to a slow start? What are the biggest differences you see in his style of play and how teams are defending him? -Early season thoughts on Pascal and areas you'd like to see him improve or the team improve around him? -Biggest issues you've seen with the Pacers team early on in the season? • Siakam DRILLS the GAME WINNER! Mathurin EXPLODES off the bench & Indy takes down the Defending Champs! (Game Recap)
    Oct 31 2024
Alex Golden and Mike Facci recap the Pacers massive overtime victory over the Boston Celtics. Bennedict Mathurin erupted off the bench with 30 points and 11 rebounds, Siakam dropped 29 points, and the last 5 for the Pacers in OT to pull away from Boston. Myles Turner didn't play, Nembhard was pulled after just 5-minutes (knee injury confirmed postgame by Carlisle), but the Pacers pulled a tough one out against the Boston Celtics, who were undefeated before tonight's BIG game. Big games from Isaiah Jackson and Obi Toppin, playing more minutes at the 5 with Myles out. McConnell had a nice bounce-back game after a 6-minute showing in Orlando. We also discuss Haliburton's play, overcoming another poor shooting night, the idiotic comments made pregame on ESPN by HOT TAKE PERK aka Kendrick Perkins and MORE! Learn more about your ad choices. • Does Rick Carlisle Coach Bennedict Mathurin Unfairly? Why Mathurin needs to be UNLEASHED!
    Oct 30 2024
On today's show, Alex does a short Pacers vs. Celtics preview to kick off the podcast. Then, Alex plays the clip from 107.5 The Fan, where Rick Carlisle addressed why Mathurin is getting inconsistent minutes and what he needs to do better. Alex then brings on Kevin Bowen from the Wake Up Call with KB and Andy, who interviewed Carlisle about Mathurin's playing time. The guys discuss Carlisle's answer, how Mathurin is coached differently, why the fan base has legit reasons to be upset with the playing time and Alex explains why he thinks the margin for error with Mathurin is thinner than it should be. This was a really good Mathurin deep dive with KB. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
