    A note from Juliet:

  • Functional Nutrition with Amanda Cowan
    Nov 22 2024

Today we had an awesome conversation with Amanda Cowan. She has some great insights to nutritional wellness regarding recovery and anti-inflammation. She spoke on her own health issues which originally encourages her to dig deep into the research for natural remedies instead of pharmaceuticals.

Amanda Cowan is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner who is board certified with the American Association of Natural Wellness Practitioners. After years of struggling with chronic health complaints related to IBS and demyelinating disease of the CNS, her goal was to get healthy again and promote healing in a natural way. Amanda used wellness principles that she has learned through her training to overcome the daily struggles associated with her health issues and now feels better than she has in over 10 years. Her passion is helping busy individuals who are struggling with things like gut issues, hormone imbalances and autoimmune issues to thrive again.

She offers access to functional lab testing to identify the underlying contributors of dysfunction and provides course correction with individualized wellness protocols that promote health and healing. She provides ongoing coaching and education to support lifestyle change that is unique to each individual. Amanda is located in downtown Hickory, NC.

She offers a free 30 minute discovery consultation and can be reached at 704-325-2018 or amandacowan79@gmail.com for questions or scheduling.

  • The Modern Day Warrior - Jiu-Jitsu Training Tactics and Competition with JD Smith
    Nov 1 2024

JD is a favored training partner with Fenix. He brings a deep understanding and a Research and Development mindset that is hard to find. In this episode, we discuss his journey through the ranks and how he approaches his training in and out of competition prep. I can personally speak to his quick thinking and modifications during rolling. Whether it's grip fighting, changing directions, or just changing the placement of tension; it's very hard to be a counter-grappler once we begins running his systems.

While we covered a lot during this podcast, we will have him back on soon to talk about the Military, Financial Advising, and Goat Farming.

    Aug 30 2024

This was a fun one. Bart and George are long time friends with some incredible stories. As always, George knows how to pick 'em. We had a great conversation on his time in the Peace Corp as he helped to protect the forest, then moved on tot he time George got shot by an exchange student. Then meeting a footless man in the woods. So many twists and turns; so little time. We hope to have him back on the podcast soon.
