Special episode - Aberfan

  • Summary

  • This episode is brought to you to mark the 50th anniversary of The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. In the village of Aberfan, on 21st October 1966, a major disaster took place that was pivotal in the introduction of The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and then the associated regulations as time went on.

This tragic incident claimed the lives of 144 innocent people, 116 of those were children and continues to have an impact on the village of Aberfan.

These people will never know how they changed the entire nations lives forever and supported the creation of legislation that was created to protect us all from the impact of workplace incidents on our lives.

We bring you a 2 hour special episode to explain, in our words, what led to this disaster and the impact it had. This is a very emotional episode.
