We are kicking off our month of spoooooky episodes with a suspenseful, supernatural, spirit filled gem. This movie has everything: An 80's soap opera star; enough Aqua Net to destroy the ozone layer; gum; a Ouija board; a possessed spirit who may or not be a pissed off 10yo.........everything!!!!! Enjoy 1986's Witchboard!

KATRINA IS THE PRO-and even though there isn't much trivia for this movie, that doesn't stop her from going on and on about how incredibly amazing and bananas this movie is! She feels pretty confident that between their lifelong love for Stephen Nichols' titular role of Steve "Patch" Johnson from Days of Our Lives and Kathleen Wilhoite's perfect portrayal of psychic Zarabeth, she will get a button push from Anna. OR ELSE!!!

ANNA IS THE CON-and she is well aware of Katrina's tricks and is planning to deny her love for Patch and Zarabeth like a disgruntled spirit refusing to go into the light. Whoops, wrong movie. She's a savvy ho, but will high spirits (again, wrong movie) and her love for 80's horror films possess her conning ways??? Listen and find out!

  • Pete's Dragon (1977): Back When They'd Write Songs About Tearing Kids and Dragons Apart and No One Seemed to Mind
    Aug 21 2024

Is that a dragon in your pocket or..........hey, knock it off! This is a podcast that is only MARGINALLY inappropriate when covering children's movies, and boy do we have a doozy for you! Do you like dragons, and songs, and orphans, but not overly fond of dragons from outer space, or just don't trust Sheb Wooley in general? Same! Look no further than 1977's fire breathing heart warmer Pete's Dragon! And just to be clear before you ask and maybe didn't see the date, this is the orIginal, not the remake, because WE DON'T LIKE CHANGE!!!!!!

ANNA-is the pro, and as usual she has tons of the 3 t's: trivia, tequila, and talking back. She gets extra salty when defending cherished childhood movies, but movies she loves with Helen Reddy and Mickey Rooney? Everyone better shut up!

KATRINA-is the con, and ordinarily we are real cautious about saying anything negative about "the mouse", but this time.....we still don't touch the name that rhymes with Stickey Clouse. She does has a few other cons up her sleeve, and she made sure to not day drink the day of recording to smugly stand in judgment of one Mr. Rooney. Boom, roasted.

  • Face/Off: Let's Not Let Actual "Science" Get in the Way of a Perfectly Bonkers Plot
    Aug 15 2024

    Send us a text

Hey!! Who wants to be able to perform complex facial reconstruction surgeries without going to medical school??!! To quote the hot European lady from Super Troopers, "I do, I do!!!". Better yet, what if we said we have an episode about a movie that is so cuckoo bananas it needed not ONE, but TWO action stars? Enter dancing queen himself Sir John Travolta and "nepotism makes me sick but the Godfather is still a classic" Nicolas Cage. Please enjoy our equally cuckoo bananas recap of 1997's Face Off!

ANNA is the pro-and in addition to some kick ass trivia, she also brings sass, tequila, trickery, and a touch more tequila. Will this lethal combination be enough to carve, heh, heh, a button push from Katrina?

KATRINA is the con-and while she feels confident that the pure silliness of this movie in combination with her steadfast resolve to not enjoy Nicolas Cage movies since Leaving Las Vegas should make it easy to avoid a button push, she DOES love dancing, and you know that sly fox Travolta can't help but sneak a booty shake in.

If something is happy the first time, isn't it happier the 2nd time? Us twice married people think so (Katrina, that is), so we thought, "Hey us, why don't we try re-recording an episode that people seem to love, and put that theory to the test?"! Except this time Katrina is the pro, and Anna is the con! Genius! Get ready for the swashbuckling romp that is 1982's The Pirate Movie!

Kristy McNichol and Christopher Atkins in Australia doing a "modern" take on the Gilbert and Sullivan opera, The Pirate of Penzance...what exactly is there not to love???

This award-winning film (Nominated for nine Razzies and winner of three) has been described by critics as "unwatchable" and "excruciating" and "literally painful to get through" and is a personal favorite of the Split Happens sisters. If you'd like to see it before you listen to the episode, it's conveniently located exclusively on YouTube.

  • Robin Hood: Sexy Animated Fox Version
    Aug 7 2024

    Send us a text

Anna and Katrina decided that there are just not enough podcasts about a benevolent animated fox and the grown human women (woman) who have developed feelings for said fox, and these women (Anna) need their (hers) voices heard! Please join us as we take a not creepy at all trip down memory lane as we discuss 1973's Disney classic, Robin Hood!

ANNA-is obviously the pro because she would have it no other way, and honestly was quite frightening during the negotiations on this topic. She comes loaded with trivia, tequila, and love, and has no time for feeble minded attacks!

KATRINA-is the con, and for the first time might be terrified of the pickle she is in. Not because she can't scrounge up a con or two. Oh no, that's not it. ANNA IS TERRIFYING WHEN IT COMES TO THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!! But tequila makes you do silly things, like ignore overt threats.

  • Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead: No but Seriously, Mom Actually Needs to Know About That
    Mar 27 2024

Have you wondered what a movie that has the hijinks of Home Alone but with fashion would like? Have you gone to the doctor and thought "Gee, this office is great, but I wonder what it would look like if the nurses had really impractical bright neon clothes!"? Wonder no longer, because this week the Split Happens sisters are bringing you 1991's totally bananas Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead

KATRINA-is the pro this week, and she is here to tell you that everything in this movie makes perfect sense and there is nothing weird at all about a 17yo pretending to be an adult so she can work in the fashion industry and take care of her 4 younger siblings while her mom is in Australia. TOTALLY NORMAL!

ANNA-is the con this episode, and she is here to tell you that Katrina is wrong and that it is whack-a-doodle to have a 17yo pretending to be an adult so she can work in the fashion industry and take care of her 4 younger siblings while her mom is in Australia. WHACK-A-DOODLE!

  • Yellow Submarine: All You Need is Love And Also Some LSD Wouldn't Hurt
    Mar 18 2024

    Send us a text

The Hills are alive! With a new episode!!! We're baaaaaaaaaaaaack, and boy do we have a delightfully bananas movie we are covering! We've got animation, music, animated music, The Beatles (kind of), and flying fingers. The makers of this film didn't do every consumable drug known to man kind for you to miss this one, so buckle up and get ready for 1968's The Yellow Submarine

ANNA-is the pro on a movie she has seen dozens of time, and was a formative film of her childhood. Which explains A LOT! Despite ongoing tech issues which gobbled up her trivia notes she comes armed with information about one of the most beloved bands of all time, and a movie that makes the term "bat shit crazy" an understatement.

KATRINA-is the con, and she is going to have to shoot her love for this delightful madhouse into animated space. You ask, are her cons logical, realistic, or well-formed? To which Katrina responds, "How dare you, and also, is this movie? Boom".
