About Luana Maria Jones: Luana is a Brazilian-born, Australia-based mother of two teenagers. She moved to Australia 18 years ago, and after the birth of her first child 16 years ago, she felt the need for a stronger Brazilian community. Together with other Brazilian mothers, Luana helped establish Mães Brasileiras em Melbourne, a thriving Facebook community founded by one of her friends. The group quickly grew, and Luana, along with other mothers, began organizing events such as Mother's Day dinners, Christmas and Easter parties, and the Brazilian July Festival. Her dedication to the community expanded, and she joined the Brazilian Council of Citizens in Victoria (CCBV), working closely with the Brazilian Embassy to provide essential services to Brazilians through initiatives like the Consulado Itinerante. Passionate about supporting international students, Luana has long been an advocate for their rights. In 2022, she partnered with Tatiane Ribeiro and joined Accent Australia, a student agency dedicated to helping students achieve their goals through personalized plans and strategies. Luana’s commitment to both the Brazilian and student communities remains at the heart of her work.
