    Jun 20 2023

In this podcast episode, the Jen and Rita introduce us to Lisa Smith, a habit change specialist and resilience coach. Lisa shares her journey of self-development and how she became an expert in resilience coaching.

The conversation then focuses on burnout and boundaries, particularly for entrepreneurs, attorneys, physicians, and mothers who need guidance in maintaining their well-being. Lisa emphasizes the importance of being aware of boundaries to prevent burnout. She explains that burnout is different from stress and involves feeling empty, detached, and experiencing extreme fatigue, helplessness, and hopelessness.

Lisa describes the techniques she uses to help people make changes, including hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), emotional freedom techniques (EFT), and positive intelligence. She dispels myths about hypnosis, stating that it is a tool for personal development and self-hypnosis, where individuals engage in the process themselves.

The discussion continues to highlight the significance of recognizing signs of stress and burnout and setting boundaries as a preventive measure. Lisa acknowledges that seeking expert help is crucial when dealing with burnout, as it can be difficult to overcome alone. The conversation concludes with a focus on the burnout experienced by attorneys and the importance of addressing mental well-being in the profession.

Overall, the episode explores the role of habit change and resilience coaching in preventing and managing burnout, emphasizing the importance of setting boundaries and seeking professional assistance when needed.

  • Warrior Women with Special Guest Liz Svatek
    Jun 6 2023

It was a party before it even started. Rita and Jen must be the life of the party because Liz was so excited to get to chat with them and be on the podcast. Rita points out a really cool reminder that life can and should be fun! How are we focusing on not allowing the red wine spill to ruin our days and really leaning into the joys of the life we live?

Liz has a story that we can all find familiarity in. From feeling miserable at her 9-5 to unhappy with her personal life there are threads each of us can resonate with and find compassion towards her because it feels so familiar. The conversation around how she used those frustrations as fuel for her fire for change is where we start to learn who Liz is and what she provides through Warrior Women; her company.

Who knew that radical personal responsibility, admitting you are not happy, and expanding ourselves could lead to a top 1% podcast and a 6-figure business? Let's talk about the how and why... Radical personal responsibility was the first step. How do we see that all of our struggles stem from ourselves? If we continue to think that all our issues stem from outside sources, we lose the ability to make change. When we stop hiding behind excuses and really learn that we are the issue, we also learn the beautiful truth that we are also the solution.

Rita asks the question about vulnerability and how we are that and a warrior at the same time. Liz really shines a light on how being willing to connect, be vulnerable and share the way we are being radically responsible we are actually the true warriors we are designed to be. Being in our heads, thinking we are alone in our struggles, or judging ourselves are a few key things stopping us from living our best lives.

There are some major truth bombs and conversation truths being dropped in this vibrant conversation. You just have to listen for yourself.

    -------About Liz Svatek-------
I help women let go of old programming and embrace the woman who they are BECOMING. The becoming process is a journey back to YOURSELF. One of the most important pieces of that puzzle is healing our trauma. We all have trauma, and through my 12 week program and masterminds, we collectively explore what is stopping us from boldly showing up and moving forward. We begin the process of healing and soon the invisible prison we have been living in starts to fall away. We stop trying to outrun our feelings with "busyness" and breathe into a slower, easier, more peaceful life.

I believe in the power of women coming together in a group setting, holding space for each other, connecting deeply and learning from each other's wealth of experience. Before engaging in the process I now teach, I had tried every program, read every book, and researched how to change. I have studied personal growth for the last 30 years and I could never make the sustainable change in my life I was looking for. I would always falter, snap back, lose the ground I gained and then beat myself up for it. Then I found MIND MAGIC, tangible tools to make change and the science behind all the personal growth hype.

  • Budding Entrepreneurs with Special Guest Clarissa Castillo Ramsey
    May 23 2023

Rita and Jen welcome Clarissa to the show to talk about her journey to becoming the visionary that leads budding entrepreneurs on the journey to tuning into their vision and helping it blossom. Rita and Clarissa met in another women’s entrepreneur group and immediately connected through conversation about money, leaving the 9-5 and embarking on their own journey.

Clarissa gets personal and shares her own vision for leaving the corporate 9-5, safety of the 6-figure income and retirement. Sometimes the naysayer in our own brains is just as loud if not louder than the opinions and judgment from others. We focus on having to stay the course and staying in alignment with what we want and not letting the opinions of others deter us.

Dreams to Destiny. But what is the in-between? Clarissa lives and preaches this model for her own life and clients. She coaches through a small taste of a journal prompt, mindset activity and conversation about what the how, when and why needs to happen to go from Dreams to Destiny.

Imagination, visualization, meditation, journaling; do those make you uncomfortable? Have you sat with your eyes closed while being led through these and wondered if anyone else was just sitting there or if they were all getting it and you were the only one? YOU ARE NOT ALONE…. It is so normal and even Rita has experienced this herself. Clarissa dives in to shine light around just how normal this is. The misconceptions and judgment we hold with these tools. She reminds us how easily sometimes we overcomplicate things.

Clarissa has some amazing tools that Rita and Jen fell in love with. The practical, tangle and accessible tools to have you reach whatever your goals are are HERE and if you want to know more, you must listen!

    About Clarissa Castillo-Ramsey

    Career Life
Like many 20-somethings out of college in my time, I didn’t have a clear sense of direction for work. I took whatever job I could take to make money. I had a short-lived career in retail management. I learned hospitality and how to interact with customers, provide excellent service, while making sales goals. Those were things I felt naturally good at. In my mid-twenties I decided to pursue something new and get closer to an art career. I went back to school for graphic design. It took awhile to get employed in that field. My in between days were spent in different positions at different companies, but in the end I did it. I had a creative career for just under 10 years as a graphic designer. And I got back to my art. During my graphic design years, I got back into painting and invested in myself to go to artist retreats and get immersed with other artists. What I wished as a child was coming back, and it felt good.

One thing I also noticed throughout all my various jobs was organization dysfunction. I was the person people came to vent and ask for advice. “How do I deal with this person? I don’t know if I’m in the right place.” I got the itch again to reinvent myself and explore the “people” side to business. I went back to school and finished my doctorate in psychology with a focus on organizational development. I took a keen interest in coaching right away. While I was working on my doctorate I also finished a coaching program through CTI (Coaches Training Institute). I found my home in the healthcare industry working with clinicians and teams. I got back to one of the things I love the most, connecting with people and helping them with their goals. Over the years, I have had the opportunity and privilege to support hundreds of individuals and teams with topics like conflict, communication, leadership development, team performance, and self-care.

  • Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary with Special Guest Carol Feeley
    May 16 2023

Rita and Jen meet with Carol Feely. A high performance coach who takes your ordinary and turns it into extraordinary.

Carol jumps in the conversation from the start with excitement around sharing her story. Carol credits finding her courage through the instruction of Toastmasters. She expanded that courage into vision thus creating her company!

“Work harder on yourself than your job. That is when life gets better!”-Jim Rohn

Jen wastes no time by pointing out the misconceptions about coaching. We touch on the thoughts of “I do not need coaching”. “How does your specialty help the people you help?” There is a big emphasis on our self image and the small daily habits and how they affect our life. Coaching is not a huge undertaking that requires more than small awareness and habits that start in our head first.

Following the theme of courage, it takes courage to understand that we are not in competition with each other. We focus on what we specialize in and come alongside each other to support. Carol has taken her ten years of knowledge from Toastmasters to help people find that courage and voice through presenting and speaking.

Who doesn’t love tips? Carol shares some of her main tips which are directed towards; Attitude, fixed habits and conscious mind vs subconscious mindsets. Listen to this quick down and dirty look into high level coaching with Carol to hear the depths of these tips and how to be aware and implement them in your life.

    About Carol Feeley
The most significant gift I give to the world is my smile and laughter. I received this gift as I watched my Mom demonstrate her laughter and love for people. She loved to talk to everyone.

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

Like Mom, I have become a people person. I am at my happiest when I am engaging with others. My enthusiasm for life has grabbed the attention of others, especially children! It is this enthusiasm that birthed a career in child development. As a teacher, I enjoyed seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces as they engaged in story-time.

I became known as the cheerleader of the school for the children and staff. It was very natural for me to motivate others.
I taught Pre-Kindergarten for 14 years. During my twelfth year of
teaching, I joined a public speaking and leadership course
called Toastmasters. It was a perfect fit because I had already been taking personal development courses.

After a decade of personal development, I felt compelled to take a turn in my life and reinvented myself. Today, I am an Empowerment Coach.

Throughout my journey, I discovered most people hold back on
themselves, and it doesn’t have to be that way. There is nothing more rewarding than to see my clients empowered to achieve their best life.

My mission in life is for others to say Yes, to a BIGGER life. My unique coaching style enables my clients to gain insight into their biggest passions in life. Come and enjoy the journey. I will lead you to your more significant life.

  • Postpartum Depression with Special Guest Tanya Newbould
    May 9 2023

Rita and Jen welcome Tanya Newbould, a resilient woman that has lived through and survived postpartum depression. She shares her story on this episode and how it led her on a life-changing journey to help and support other women experiencing the same thing.

You don't want to miss this episode!

    ------About Tanya Newbould------

Tanya is an expert at resilience from being adopted in the U.K., growing up with an alcoholic parent, surviving PPD to go on to co-produce the award winning “When the Bough Breaks-a documentary about Postpartum Depression”.

Growing up, Tanya was under the impression that you had to choose ONE profession growing up or you would be “Jack of all trades, master of none”. For years, Tanya believed that to be true, but was never satisfied with only going after one thing.

Cumulatively, Tanya realized that her life experience from being adopted in England, growing up with one alcoholic parent and one who suffered from manic depression only fueled her move to California from Michigan at 21 in pursuit of acting. After making many mistakes, there came a point where she was not able to eat for a week because she had run out of money.

Determined to survive, it created a strength and determination to expand in many areas of life. Majoring in Speech Communications with a minor in Theater from C.S.U.L.B., Tanya moved to L.A. and began her work in over 18 feature films, T.V. and commercials.

By the time Tanya was 30, she met and married her soulmate but felt she lived by her past story which made her feel she couldn’t truly achieve her dreams. Not wanting to accept that, Tanya embarked on a journey of self reflection, growth and knowledge. Her first foundation has always been her faith in God, but after having her beautiful daughter and suffering from horrific PPD, Tanya was determined to help others and had the forethought for a documentary about PPD. She partnered with two amazing women to co-produce “When The Bough Breaks-a documentary about Postpartum depression”, Executive Produced and narrated by Brooke Shields. Now available in 70 countries and six languages, this film has helped many women and families. This launched her public speaking career and more recently Coaching as a motivational, spiritual life coach life coach.

  • Postpartum Depression with Special Guest Rebecca Boccuzzi
    May 3 2023

    Trigger warning.

This is a message that is vitally important. So many women are suffering from this and it isn't talked about enough. The topic on today's episode is postpartum depression.

Rita's own daughter-in-law Rebecca joins Rita and Jen today to really dive into postpartum depression.

Rebecca's pregnancy journey was smooth-sailing. She felt great, was minimally uncomfortable (until the end), and overall the pregnancy was ideal. On her due date, she elected to be induced. She opted for an epidural and unfortunately labor stalled.

Her doctors recommended a c-section which was completely against what she intended. She was scared. She was nervous. She was exhausted from laboring all night. But she did what she had to do.

When she heard the cry, she felt she couldn't enjoy that moment. She told her husband to stay with the baby, but felt abandoned and scared being left in the operating room with no one.

What happened next was shocking. The full extent of the trauma hit once they went home. In any moment she was alone, she felt scared and abandoned. She couldn't leave the baby. She couldn't sleep. There was no napping. She quite literally entered a state of mind that wouldn't allow her to rest when she needed to rest out of fear and anxiety.

It was so hard and so bad that at one point she describes how she felt as a, "shell of a person."

While those that loved her noticed, it took a lot of effort to help her. Those experiencing postpartum depression may not have the courage or strength or willingness to ask for help when they desperately need it. There is a mindset that as a new parent we should be able to handle it so why can't I, and that keeps your loved one from asking for help.

In this second half of this episode, Rita and Jen talk about how to prepare for postpartum. There are strategies to mentally prepare prior to birth so that if you find yourself in the same situation, you can have a plan in place.

  • Tax Strategies with Special Guest Luba Milgram
    Apr 25 2023

Rita and Jen welcome Luba Milgram to the table to discuss tax strategies! Her specialty is for women in entrepreneurial businesses so if that is you, listen up!

Luba starts by breaking down tax preparers vs. tax planners. Preparers are reporting history. Planners are prepping for the future. Strategists or advisors are informed of the law in so much detail that they are able to look at the paperwork from tax preparers and formulate a plan.

There is actually a known phobia for those that are terrified of taxes. The American people are so scared of the IRS and making a mistake. And this fear can manifest as a phobia known as Forosophobia.

Legally, tax evasion is illegal. Tax avoidance is legal. And you can do this in so many ways with how you structure your business!

Listen for all of the details!
