  • 5 DIY SEO Tips for Your Small Business
    Dec 21 2024

Welcome to this weeks’ episode of The Australian Small Business Show!

In today’s episode we are following on from our discussion last week with Ryan Griffin from Chunky Duck.

Today we are sharing 5 simple SEO strategies for small businesses who want to do a little DIY SEO over the Christmas period.

    Our 5 strategies are:

    1. Keyword Research – Find What Your Customers are Searching For

Keyword research is the foundation of any successful SEO strategy. It helps you understand what terms your potential customers are using to search for your products or services.

Tip: Look at competitor websites to identify keywords they’re ranking for.

2 Optimize Website Titles and Meta Descriptions

Titles and meta descriptions are the first things people see on search engine results pages (SERPs). Well-optimized titles and descriptions can significantly improve your click-through rate (CTR).

Tip: Keep your titles and meta descriptions focused on the user’s intent – what do they want to know or solve by clicking on your link?

    3. Create High-Quality, Engaging Content

Google values content that is helpful, informative, and answers user queries. Creating high-quality content is one of the best ways to improve your SEO ranking and engage your audience.

Tip: Include relevant keywords in your blog titles, headings, and within the content naturally, but avoid keyword stuffing.

    4. Improve Your Website’s Mobile Experience

With more people using smartphones to browse, Google considers mobile-friendliness a key ranking factor. A website that is mobile-friendly provides a better user experience and boosts SEO.

Tip: If your site is slow on mobile, consider optimizing images and removing unnecessary plugins that may be slowing it down.

5 Encourage and Manage Customer Reviews

Online reviews are a powerful ranking factor, especially for local SEO. Positive reviews not only improve your reputation but also influence search engine rankings.

Tip: Use reviews to identify common customer pain points or satisfaction factors, and improve your products or services based on feedback.
