  • Day 201: Keys to the Kingdom (2024)
    Jul 19 2024
Fr. Mike focuses on Isaiah 22 today and explains how the role of the pope in the Catholic Church goes all the way back to this important chapter in Isaiah. We learn that Jesus himself instituted the papacy by making Peter his 'al-habbayit, the one over the household who holds the keys to the kingdom when the king is away. Today's readings are Isaiah 21-22, Nahum 3, and Proverbs 10:29-32. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. • Day 200: Egypt, Assyria, and Israel (2024)
    Jul 18 2024
Fr. Mike celebrates Day 200 of our journey by highlighting the relationship between Egypt, Assyria, and Israel according to the Lord's plan. We have a God who died for his enemies to make him his friends, and we see that foreshadowed in Isaiah, concerning the horrific acts of Assyria and Egypt. Today's readings are Isaiah 18-20, Nahum 1-2, and Proverbs 10:25-28. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. • Day 199: Times for War (2024)
    Jul 17 2024
Fr. Mike explains why Joel would say that there are certain times for war, even within God's plan. In a broken world, we are sometimes going to be called to fight the brokenness around us, but we must believe that God is allowing this not because he likes war, but because something better will come in its place. Today's readings are Isaiah 16-17, Joel 3, and Proverbs 10:21-24. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. A real blessing

Nicely presented with genuine warmth and piety. Enjoyable to listen to well structured. Have previously done Bible in a year and felt confused by some of the more challenging parts the talk after the passage is read really helps love this podcast. Thank you Mike.

Excellent look at the Bible

Thank you Fr Mike for this fantastic trip through the Bible in one year. Parts of Scripture can be tedious others we think we know but really do not. Fr Mike (and Jeff) make them accessible and enlightening.

First 111 Bible chapters

I am enjoying receiving the daily podcast. Of course I knew the Bible, but not so in details and with very interesting explanations, which they are useful because made relevant with our modern life.
The Father is an excellent communicator, I also love the short prayer, different every day. If I have to add one criticism, it would be only that sometimes Father Mike speaks too fast (English not my first language, I am Italian).

Absolutely fantastic!!!

I don't think I'd be able to go through the Bible without this podcast. The reflections and exposition bring it to to life. It would be so hard to study alone without these explanations and the praying community

God Bless Father Mike!

Father mike is amazing at explaining and reading the bible in a way that makes you WANT to listen!!

My understanding of the old testament wasn't great. There was so much I didn't understand. Father Mike has a way about him that my understanding is much much better!
Father Mike seems GENUINELY happy to be going through this journey with us!!

Fr Mike’s Bible in a year - is wonderful & highly recommended

Fr Mike’s Bible in a Year podcasts are an invaluable resource to deepen one’s journey in faith and understanding of the Old and New Testaments. I have learned SO much from this app. Fr Mike gives an interpretation of the readings each day and does so in a sympathetic, intelligent though assessable manner and does not avoid some of the more challenging topics outlined particularly in the Old Testament (this is the first time I’ve managed to get through this). This is throughly researched and planned with insights given at each new book in the Bible by a Bible academic Jeff Caven. One feels part of a prayer community listening to this app - all due to Fr Mike’s warm and positive personality, he is the campus priest at Deluth University, Minnesota and has a wonderful way of reaching out to young students. Thank you SO much for uploading these podcasts- I will definitely return to these often - even after completing the books from Genesis to Revelation.
