In this episode, Dion Spencer (the Pharmacist) and Steve Moss (the Photog) discuss UK football's loss to Vanderbilt, UK basketball's Big Blue Madness, the return of former UK coach Rick Pitino, America's favorite Halloween candy and least favorite Halloween candy, how they got started collecting vinyl music again, and discussed local breweries. (Welcome into episode one of The Pharmacist and the photog. games, Grooves and Grub podcast. I am the pharmacist Dion Spencer, and this is my cohort. the photog, Steve Moss. The photog. As in video, but not photography. I don't know a thing about SLRs or any of that stuff, but I think I could figure out a video camera. You can probably figure it out after after this many years and in the business. what we're going to do here, hopefully every week or so, we're going to get together and talk about, some things that we spend time talking about when we're in the car going places together, concerts and things like that. But we're going to focus on sports and, music and food and beverage. I think it's where we're headed with this. And maybe some, tonight we're going to talk a little bit about some some pop culture kind of stuff. We'll throw in a little bit of everything. Whatever strikes our fancy, I guess, is where we're going to go with this. Yeah. I mean, let's let's just touch on it real quick. We're both sports fans. So I think sports has kind of dominated our, our lives for a very, a very long time. And it pays the bills for me. Exactly. Um, but we also both enjoy collecting vinyl, which we will touch on. And we, we love to eat. And you're the beer connoisseur. Yeah. So we'll touch on all that stuff. We're going to just, hopefully say a few things that might be entertaining every now and then. we, we won't, claim to be experts in any one, area for sure, but, we're going to touch on a lot of stuff. So I think we'll, we'll start with, the debacle that was UK football this weekend. I was there and it was not pretty. I will just say that, Mark Stoops has some explaining to do, because coming off a bye week, they are absolutely terrible. Yeah. And we knew that going in, um, you know, coming off by my math and of course fuzzy math at that. they're now five and nine coming off of a bye week. And I think against the spread, it's even worse coming off the bye. I think he's only covered maybe of those five wins, I think he's only covered maybe 2 or 3 times. That 13 point spread was ridiculous. You know, you're a double digit favorite at home and you lose to South Carolina. Then you're off the bye week and you lose as a double digit favorite to Vandy. And to me, none of that makes sense. Right. But you know give Vandy credit. They showed when they played Alabama that they're a pretty good football team. And obviously you know I don't think I don't think Vandy beat Kentucky I think Kentucky lost the game. They beat themselves. They didn't have any feet left because they shot all their feet off. Right? You know, with all the mistakes they made when you look at, what's going on with this team, it's obvious that the offense is not getting it done. The defense is there doing their job. I mean, they are 100% doing their job. They even moved up this week to become the third ranked defense in the country. So and we knew before the season started that this was going to be a very good defense. And I think Stoops and Vince Merrill and company thought this might be one of their better defenses that they've ever had there. You give Brad White credit. You know, the the game they had against Georgia was very impressive. Um, you know, losing to South Carolina was was not. But, you know, after after going on the road and, and playing as well as they did against Ole Miss and and getting a win down there, we thought, okay, now this season is a little more manageable. You come home, you're going to get a win against Ohio. You're going to get a week to heal up. Then you're going to get a win against Vandy. )
